Odd Man Out Cinema had a great year in 2012 and wants to pay it forward with this amazing deal with our Scarlet-X package. Basic package, ready to shoot - 250.00 a day.

Cheers to 2013!

Insurance required for all rentals. Prefer a minimum 2 day rental, but we are flexible.

Here’s what people are saying:

“If Oden's deal wasn't available, I wouldn't have been able to finish my very first short film. So I want to say thanks to him for being such a laid back, helpful guy, and for pricing his camera at a place where I could afford to finish my movie.”

“Just want to say thanks for the excellence service. I just finished a shoot with Oden's camera package. Couldnt be happier. Oden is such a nice guy and really helpful. Im sure you wont find a better deal!!
Will definitely come back.”

I just want to say,

I have a short film project I've been working on since August 2012. It's almost entirely self-funded, and at the last second, we had a little extra availability with our lead actor to finish it off.

I hope one day I can pay that same favor forward.

Thanks O,

Phil

Best of luck with your new year. A little bit of irony in your post here, however. A few folks in this particular forum own Scarlets and Epics and may not look at your "special pricing" as manna from heaven but, rather, as cheap (below market?) competition that upsets the market.

Go for it! But don't be surprised if you're not universally lauded for your generosity. LOL

I appreciate the comments Terry and Happy New Year! We only hope to help out other filmmakers to gain access to this fabulous tool at an affordable price. I think Jim would back me on this. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

I've heard (off forum) complaints about Oden's pricing.

If one camera going out at $250 upsets the market, then the market didn't really stand a chance.

Uninformed Counterargument: "Well then that'll cause me to have to drop -my- prices down to $250 to compete."

Not really, because, again, it's one camera. But, for sake of argument, lets pretend that this causes everyone to drop their prices down to $250, in order to compete with him. Welcome to competition. Eventually, we'd reach a saturation point where there were -no more cameras available- at $250. At that point you could then raise your price to $275, $300, etc, until you reached the new market equilibrium.

Any discomfort from his pricing is likely the subconscious fear that the rental market is overpriced. And perhaps an unjustified fear at that.

"an agreement between participants on the same side in a market to buy or sell a product, service, or commodity only at a fixed price, or maintain the market conditions such that the price is maintained at a given level by controlling supply and demand"

This is from the wikipedia definition for price fixing.

"the unit price for a particular good will vary until it settles at a point where the quantity demanded by consumers (at current price) will equal the quantity supplied by producers (at current price), resulting in an economic equilibrium for price and quantity."

This is from the wikipedia definition for supply and demand.

Economic Equilibrium.

Big deal, let em charge 250 a day, I'm sure he wants to charge $600+ for every day worked, but in this day and age, it doesn't work like that. I bought $300k worth of gear, mostly RED gear, and I still only get 300-400 per day. If I don't take it, then they go with joe shmo down the road. So what are we supposed to do with that?

I would say now would be the worst time to be an OWNER/OPERATOR. Operators now are getting more work since our thirst for quality content has expanded the last few years.
