  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi, I'm about purchasing a scarlet, and I would like to ask the following:
I own both R Leica lenses and some Nikkor lenses. I would like to use
both types on the Scarlet. Is it a good idea to buy a Canon mount camera
in order to use Leica's and Nikkor's with canon adapters?

Thanks
John

That is a one way.

You can also just buy the brain without either PL or Canon mount (http://www.red.com/store/products/scarlet-x-brain-only)...
Then buy the Nikon and Leica mounts separately (or chose the brain package with either the Nikon or the Leica mount...)...

Biggest advantage is that you will retain electronic control of the lenses and capture lens metadata from compatible lenses...

Thanks Peter for the reply, unfortunately I can't afford right now purchasing 2 mounts, I was thinking getting the Canon mount option and use adapters for each lens manufacturer.
Regards
John

Your best option is just getting a Scarlet body and put Allstar mount on it since you have Leica-Rs (not Leica-Ms) & Nikons.
