  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is RED planning a Scarlet-M program ? I think that some people would pay an extra & would do on location tests with early builds of the Scarlet. :patriot:
 
Most of the Beta Testing is done with the EPIC. And problems found within EPIC are resolved for both versions. Scarlet is the little brother of the EPIC and many (not all) functionalities are 'copied' to the Scarlet.
So just be patient and the final result is going to be great, and more...
NAB is not that far away anymore...
 
Considering how much hand machining has added to the cost of an Epic-M, I could see the cost of a Scarlet-M being higher than that of an Epic-S and close to that of an Epic-X.

In a sense, yes. Architecture is quite the same.
But different sensor, so different reactions, different results...
I think several subjects of it are tested apart from epic.
 
A Scarlet-M would be realtively pointless though right?

Similar firmware, minor changes, different sensor and circuits fair enough but similar bodies...
they probably have already got working bodies (can't remember) so really if they did mass production of it, handed a few of the mass production ones out quietly, tweaked firmware etc. then did a mass firmware distribution then sent them out...it'd be less costly right?

EPIC-Ms must've been around for a long while if spidermans on it and they've got them on magazine shoots.. plus to have 250+ in 3 months, thats crazy fast, so they must have at least had a few models out and about whilst they were tweaking other stuff

but who knows, this is RED, they could do anything...never saw the EPIC-M coming
 
I don't think Epic-M is really a beta like Tattoo was going to be, I think it's more like an RC. I think the cameras that went on Spiderman were beta or even alpha.

But regardless I think people want Ms more as collector's items than the chance to beta test.
 
I wouldn't mind getting a fixed-M as a collectors item...that would be definitely worth it...

better yet, would be awesome for different abilities to be customized, like FPS (i believe they said minimum of 20 orders for this but guessing that applies only to EPIC) or body wise, carbon fibre Scarlet anyone?
