Hello, what are the characteristics of the lens fixed 8X?

Thank you for your help everyone.

MD :cheers2:

Exact focal length range hasn't been published but it would be something close to 7.5mm-60mm on the 2/3" fixed to be equivalent to a 28-224mm on an FF35 still camera.

I'm guessing you haven't priced out 2/3" zoom lenses lately ...

Scarlet: buy a compact 8x zoom, get a free camera!

But I certainly do not want to miss the Scarlet fixed due to a lack of maneuverability

I just looked to see if RED ever mentioned the actual focal length and found this post by Jarred where he says it is 7.5 - 58mm. I think he must have meant 60mm though if it is the FF35mm equivalent of 228mm. Maybe my math is off...

Someone asked me about the fixed focal length in 2/3" broadcast terms... it is F2.4 7.5mm - 58mm. Constant aperture throughout the zoom range.

FF35 Equivalent of 28mm-224mm...
The actual focal length is 7.5mm-60mm.

Is there something regarding optics that makes it much more difficult/expensive to make the wide of end of a 2/3" zoom lens 6.5mm vs. 7.5mm?

I read other posts in which people would prefer a 24mm (FF35 equivalent), but I can't gripe about a zoom that looks like it would retail for more than the entire camera.

Along this line of thinking, I noticed that the RED Mini Primes were:
6.5mm T1.9 and 8mm T1.5. The T-stop (and probably therefore the f/stop) gets slower at this juncture.

It seems that, with Canon and Nikon full frame lenses, 50mm f/1.4 is cheap, but anything wider or tighter is either slower or much more money.

Also, are you multiplying the 2/3" lenses by 3.8 to get the FF35 equivalent? If so, this would make the 7.5mm a 28.5mm in FF35 terms (not that this matters at all, just trying to get my math straight).

Thanks in advance,
Chris
