  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just a thought I had. Definitely belongs in the off topic section.

What if every RED user donated a doller to the 5d fund, and when the Scarlet is launched aka 5d killer. We ship the 5d to Jannard so he can take a sledge hammer to it, showing Canon who is boss? (Shot on Epic of Coarse)

how about everyone that buys a scarlet, upload your very first video to youtube and mail the link to canon....that should be enough
 
Thats' pretty good. But a video of the Canon getting smashed is both symbolic and awesome. That being said, I'm sure Jannard has PR to think about.

Scott, in this period in life high testosterone levels are not unusual.

It will pass.
 
This past weekend I was coloring RED MX, RED, ALEXA, 5d footage. Had the best of all the worlds.

If I were the other companies (with the exception of Arri) I wouldn't even have boots, I would of sold them already.

EPIC and ALEXA are the future. But EPIC has the upper hand.

Trust me.
 
5D!? That will be kind of offensive to the Scarlet team. We should smash a F23 or SI-2K or something.

Either way, DSLR has its own niche. While there are many future Scarlet users who have temporarily bought a cheap DSLR, the long time DSLR users will continue using them. I think the likes of 5D (Mk III), GH1(2) and Scarlet will coexist.

Scott, please do write more about your experience colouring Alexa! The grader's perspective is what I was waiting for.

How about we donate the 5D and are thankful that WE (or some of us, to be more precise) will be fortunate enough to be able to afford a Scarlet (in my case there is a "someday" in there).

All in good fun. I don't think Jim is actually going to grind a 5D.

Though it would be might cool for the audience if he does.

Besides, great moments make you feel like a child once again. So, hard to take an offense for that statement!
 
I don't see it as a good idea as a DSLR, even we great video modes, is a STILL CAMERA ! And the 5D is quite a good one isn't he ?

Plus, I think it's kinda awful of an attitude as some people might be dreaming and saving up for a 5D or what else (coffee ?). It's unrespectul to those people or to people who don't have any money to show them "hey, look, we spend 2K bucks to destroy something ! Yeah, useless it was, fun but useless. Yes you would have be happier if we gave you the money but... We didn't ! Stay hungry !".
I don't want to offense anyone by the way !
I think the video posting is a better solution. :wink5:

My point is there have been false dawns before, let's all stay calm until a real announcement is made and not get over excited by a static shot of a lens barrel rotating.

That is 100% correct. And besides that, creating something is far more important than the equipment you use or can afford.
