Forgive me if this question has been asked/answered elsewhere in the forum, but trying to find specific info here is challenging at best...

I'm presuming these photos show the closest thing we've seen to a production ready fixed-lens scarlet thus far:

According to the specs, the only additions would be the 2.8 viewscreen (seen here) and power.... How/where exactly does the battery come in to play? I've yet to see a place for it. Does anyone know at this point how the battery is handled for fixed-lens kit? TIA

EDIT: Well, after I post of course I find the answer... which is there is no answer. I guess this is still unknown at this point. Perhaps we'll find out more at Red Day Feb.

I vote for a "dumb" side-handle solution that strictly holds the battery, but also makes the unit easier to hand-hold!

Red hasn't sorted out power for the kit yet. There will have to be some kind of battery module attached to what you see in the pictures.
They have shown at least two different battery systems: the large battery module that attaches to the rear of the cameras, and the small battery that fits inside the side handle. They have shown renders of, but not announced pricing for, a rear battery module that takes the small batteries too. Personally I thought the kit would come with the side handle, as that is the cheapest combo of control and battery power announced so far.

RED hasn't decided which battery option to INCLUDE in the fixed Scarlet price.

The back mounted battery module and side handle that has a battery will both be options for the fixed lens Scarlet but may cost extra.

Since they announced that the remote is included in the package I don't know what to expect. But, as always, when in doubt trust in RED to sort it out in a fair manner. How can we do that? Wait'n'see...

I'm still holding out hope for a handle solution (non-functional except to supply power) that would make it easier to hand-hold the Scarlet. Some sort of dongle or wart solution would be pretty weak.

I do as well.

Maybe it is because I started this love affair with shooting, with an 8mm cam, but I think it would be cool to see a non-functional (power supply only) handle that can be placed upright, under the camera when running and gunning like an old school 8mm cam... Or, on the side like the current side handle for other shooting situations.

I think it would play in nicely with the modularity concept, and offer a practical solution with a cool nod to the past.

But I bet the Red team is cooking up something way better
