Scarlet in space - Shoot for MUSE

Matt will you be posting your finall r3d graded?

Hey Greg,

I use Resolve for CC so there isn't an R3D grade. My raw settings stayed flat and at default other than an ISO of 500.

This looks great! Can't wait to see it. I'm guessing they had a decent budget? Was that a custom build environment or was it something you guys found and re-used?

Thanks Vladimir. If you heard the budget you would have laughed. The crew did it as a freebie, hence why we were a crew of 4 including the Director and myself. The location is an actual set here at a sound stage in Los Angeles and was used for the series "Firefly." I had to call in a favor just to get a Scarlet for the shoot cause we couldn't afford a rental setup.

I really like the cold, blue color tone you went with, Matt. Very space-like. I thought I'd go the opposite direction with my grade.

Nice Garrett. I actually did my first grade warm like that cause it felt more like the dying earth look they wanted, but the director had just watched "Pandorum" and liked the cool tones in that.

Some quick Primaries

Some quick Primaries

Hi Matt - thank you for sharing your work and allowing us to have some fun in the process.

I might of went more "dream sequence" than you wanted to go - but I saw something softer in your material. I can only assume that a man with a girl and a bike on a spaceship is a "special" moment. :) Backed by an aggressive rhythm of course...

These are just some primaries in red cine - with a second one that has some blue brought back in. I do really like the sci-fi blue ones you posted earlier up the thread. Great stuff and thanks for sharing.

Anyone else want to offer up their grades?

As a side note anyone here do VFX who needs footage for a reel? If your good, I'd love to have vfx done in 4K as the official version is 720P. It would be a mutual reel only deal. You'd be free to use it in your reel and I'd only use it on my reel and no where else.

Are you a little scared of WBR coming down on all these stills?

No I own the rights which is part of my contract for doing this. They are concert visuals and have nothing to do with WBR and was contracted directly through the band via the media manager. Most of the stuff they do is outside WBR with the exception of music videos.
