  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet in space - Shoot for MUSE

Matt I'm astonished this was shot @ 3k.

I thought on playing with RMD's Scarlet 4K. What was the rational for 3k? Either way I'm impressed.

The whole video plays out in slow motion. Shot it at 48fps which is why I had to drop to 3k on the Scarlet.

Ok. I had a little fun in photoshop on the couch.

Hey Gavin,
Thank you. I really like this color and the VFX plate!

I think you may be surprised with the show, pretty sure you'll see the pyramid and full stage.

I could have used you as a VFX supervisor! On this shoot and the Ninja shoot we had a crew of 4 including the director. So basically I had to light, DP it, and Cam Op (we had a steadicam op for the Space shoot), and load and unload all the gear.

The space shoot was shot entirely on the 18mm MKII Super Speed.

Looks like 4 was enough! It looks great. But seriously, for Muse, time and place and I'll be on a plane. ;)

Haha sounds good!

Ps. Where are the anamorphic lens flares in your guys stills?

Hey Matt,

This stuff looks incredible. You really have done a fantastic job with lighting....so inspiring! Thanks for sharing the awesome story and letting us play with the R3D's. Big fan :)

Thanks Matt!

Looking forward to all the grades people go with. It makes it fun when your working with RAW images ;)

Looks great, Matt! :-)

Matt, were you the DP/Cinematographer as well, or were you strictly camera?

The r3ds look mint right out of the camera.

Hey Mike,

I was the DP, not operator on this (usually I do both). We had a steadicam op for this one.

Thank you

I really love your grading on these shots. Especially the skin tones look great. Can't believe there are still some people claiming the EPIC wouldn't be able to capture natural (or beautiful) skin tones...

Thanks Toby, yeah i really don't understand it either. Funny thing is all that I did to this was a contrast curve and a slight amount of blue in the lows. Didn't even touch the skin tones.
