Hi All

I've just finished a shoot where the HDMI output stopped working between one day and the next. We were set up with a Paralinx, nothing changed, but on the second day I was unable to get any HDMI output. I've tried since with different hard wire HDMI cables to a selection of monitors, but nothing has worked (these are cables that are known to work, likewise for the other monitors). I'm on the latest version of the firmware (have reinstalled).

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Alex

check the topics on paralinx. a few people had the same problem when paralinx burnt their HDMI and had to send the camera back to red to fix it.

This is starting to become a common thing with red cameras and hdmi transmitters like the paralinx....

I was powering the transmitter with a Paralinx d tap to USB cable and a USB feed from that. Hired; but they are apparently fine and still working.

Hmm... Me no likely. That's the third thread this week about a paralinx user's HDMI seemingly getting hosed.

Has Dan chimed in on this yet? Really difficult diagnosing problems when they don't happen with any consistency.

My camera went in last week. Waiting for the call from RED. My RED was hooked to the Paralinx one time and I wasn't even there….now it looks like I'll get stuck with a bill fixing a port I never use. :(

Would really like to know if this is a problem with the Paralinx or the RED - but something sure is up.

The thing is it seems we only hear problems about paralinx damaging red cameras (but not other brands)...which makes me wonder if it's RED's implementation of the HDMI connector that is the problem....since we all know RED does not always follow industry standards in technology implementation....

How much does RED charge to fix a fried HDMI port? Does RED offically approve the Parallinx?

I am pretty sure they don't disapprove of parallinx considering they advertise on reduser ;) but seriously there has been enough cases for Red/Parallinx to start looking into it. Hopefully they are....

My HDMI also spontaneously stopped working and RED charged me $900+tax+sh to fix it. SDI was also acting weird for months before HDMI broke, though, but got both fixed at the same time so not sure if that was extra or if it was the same board. My HDMI stopped working while connected to a Marshall monitor though, not paralinx.

Damn, that's expensive!

Well its all relative, my power board also broke a year earlier while under warranty and they charged me $1700 to replace it even though most other pro cameras have reverse polarity protection built in, so I was just happy it wasn't that much this time.
