Scarlet freezes while focussing

Hi all,

i am experimenting currently with my new Scarlet. Using the Canon 24-70 mm 2,8. I have following observations and am interested to see, if any one else has experienced same issues.

1) In focus mode :

It is hard to select / deselect different focus options on the touchscreen. My "guess" is, that the software is so busy, that touches
on the focus mode are not all captured, and you need to press it a couple of times and sometimes selects the wrong modus.

It's a nightmare selecting the right mode.

2) In Rack focus mode, there is the option, when half pressing the record button, the camera focusses. It happened to me 4 times
now, that the camera did freeze partially (the image was still there and moving, all other functions including buttons where frozen)
I hard to switch off the camera, by pressing the on off button for 3 seconds, so it was rebooting.

3) Theoretically you can move the little frame around on the screen to select the focus area. This also is working limited, as the touch-screen
sensitivity is so limited, that only every 3rd or 4th touch is recognized by the camera - with that usage of this functionality gets down to
zero.

If the focus works and it can focus (about 30% of the focus tries the focus moves forward and back stops then unfocussed) it hits the focus point exactly and very precise.

Is there an option to report this to Red ?

Thanks

Steffen

thanks, I was aware of that, I was wondering if red is interested in this kind of feedback and what is your experience on this. Thanks again

Steffen,

We have seen some of this as well, I'm sure it will improve with future updates. It hasn't been much of an issue for us as years of conditioning has taught me to never trust auto anything on a camera.

:-) I agree fully with you, most likely, if we not all change behaviour and learn new ways, will never really use it. Still as it is a "feature" it should work / people should be aware of it. Maybe it is a quick fix.

I found this same issue with the canon 85 f1.8. Here's what we did. We powered down the camera, then re-seated the lens. If the red dots don't match up on the canon mount (in our case we were able to tighten the ring to where the red dot went past where it should have… meaning the lens was not properly set) and that fixed our freezing issue. By the way, usually if the lens is set wrong we can't get f-stop control in the menu, but in this case we could.. even though we found that the lens wasn't in there all the way.
