  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet Footage

I think it would be of HUGE benefit to post the .r3d file from the Scarlet.

Most Epic purchasers will know the .r3d format inside out.... but I guess a large chunk of Scarlet purchasers will be starting from scratch.... having a few .r3d scarlet files would be great to really explore the RED system, help us to work out if our machines are good enough (and would help pass the time!).

It's possibly (although unlikely) the the scarlet is to early in development to generate .R3D's. The being said I completely agree.

Sooooooooo how would Jarred be able to post ANY footage from it, if the cam wasn't able to generate .R3D's? :ihih:

Right now, I am imaging the Scarlet in the engineering lab, with the guts hanging out and electrical jumpers everywhere.

Izzy wasn't a .R3D, It was pulled directly from the sensor.

I hope we get that footage tonight. Or at least an update.

Same workflow here... It would be fantastic...

Huh? No, it is probably more like "Everything is subject to CHANGE, count on it".

Once you understand that, you won't be disappointed.

Thats a nice sentiment but It's shit. WE ARE ALL DISAPPOINTED. We are all pissed that RED has failed a release date for the third consecutive time in two years. It's okay to be disappointed. Hell, Jim's probably a little miffed that It's taken this long. But guess what... RED is creating something like nothing else and It requires time and patience.

My point is embrace your disappointment, It will only make the SCARLET/EPIC sweeter when it's finally in your hands.

I just hope that the Epic tattoo program doesn't fall under bunch of hands who don't know what to do with'em or take forever to test them...It will make our wait longer.

Amir I' have nothing to say but...... :banghead:

Without trying to stir up any trouble... I think that it's time to just post certain updates when things are done/ready... especially regarding footage tests, something that every Scarlet purchasers is waiting with baited breath for.

Hinting at when the footage will be out is going to cause quite a lot of frustration.

I would just appreciate a no-bullshit assessment of what is going on.
To be honest I truly dont care if Scarlet isn't released for another 2 years.
It would just be nice to know that.
Even though the from the looks of it, by the time it is released to the general public, the next generation of [insert un-mentionable cameras] will be on the shelves.

Since I see that we like PotC here, in the words of Jack Sparrow, "If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it."

To be frank, I'm surprised a company whos motto/mission statement interprets to "we don't meet deadlines" is still around. My degree isn't in running a business but this can't be helping future sales. :emote_popcorn:

Amen.

If the Scarlet/EPIC/RED ONE were not the best digital cinema cameras around I'm sure RED would be gone.

This is how a company whos motto/mission statement interprets to "we don't meet deadlines" is still around!

People are willing to say that the Scarlet is one of the best digital cinema cameras around... before seeing any footage and without any idea when it will actually be "around".

If nothing else... I find RedUser an amazing place to study the power of brand building.

And I am constantly amused and amazed at the number of people who continue to second guess the business acumen of a guy whose "degree" IS in running a business - and has more than 3 billion reasons to back up the fact that he knows what he's doing. I guess he'll just have to do it again to prove it wasn't a fluke.

To be honest what I wish most is that since Scarlet S35 (as far as we know) is pretty much a downgraded Epic, it benefits from all the testing done on EPIC and can come out fairly quickly.

Hopefully RED won't keep it on the fridge for too long in order to sell more 2/3s.
