Scarlet Footage wont Import to CS5 and Proxies dont work in FCP7. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have used RED ONE R3d before. Try to Drop in the r3d into Premiere or AE, gives me an error. Proxies come in grey in FCP?

I don't know if this will help or not .
If you want to make sure you Mac (snowleopard) boots in 64bit mode, do this.
Hold down the 6 and 4 key when booting.
After booting, click on the apple in the left top, click on "about this mac", click on software and it should say 64bit=Yes

And if you want audio, you need to be on 5.5.2 and download the Lightroom 4 beta files.

Maybe this belongs on a different thread, but seeing as how we're here... anyone know where you can download JUST the two files from Lightroom you need, instead of installing all of Lightroom 4 - I'm having major Adobe installation headaches!

Damn. Whelp. Looks like i need to use FCP7 then. The Proxy files are not working is there something Im doing wrong? I make them the normal way i do with REDONE files.

Proxies won't work right now with Epic or Scarlet footage. The QT plugin hasn't been updated to work with them.

So right now my only option is to make ProRes files? but how do I reconnect to the R3D's in a color post processing software? like Davinci?

Just make ProRes 422 files for offline, then use a FCP XML to export DPX files for Resolve from Redcine-X. You could also use an EDL and Monkey Extract, but that would cost extra and is becoming an antiquated way to relink to .r3d's.

I thought the Epic / Scarlet importer worked for Premiere? I can't check, because we're all on CS5.5 here, but I thought there was a version of the importer for CS5.

EDIT: Fixed a stupid mistake.

You need CS 5.5 for Epic/Scarlet support. We'll be updating the Apple workflow stuff next month (FCP 7 only!) to support Epic/Scarlet, but obviously you won't be able to get full 5K as those products stop at 4000/4096 pixels wide.

Rob, Thanks so much. I appreciate your response, along with everyone elses.

I normally bring in the FCP XML, but What is the process to "export DPX files from Davinci" is that meaning reconnect them to the R3D's? Sorry for the noob question I just didn't follow that part of your post. Im not very familiar with DPX files.

Sorry Kyle, I meant export DPX files FOR Resolve FROM Redcine-x. I've been sick all weekend, so I'm going to blame the cold medicine. Yeah, the cold medicine...

Rob, good news about FCP 7's support being updated. Personally, not a fan of the program, but I have too many friends and colleagues that still insist on using it, so any updated support is great news.

EDIT: Damn, I'm getting dumb. I believe you can just bypass Redcine-X and go straight in to Davinci, setting your .r3d's up as the project media, then apply an EDL (probably a XML as well, just not sure) to the project to get the correct clips. I don't even know why I suggested DPX files; probably because the colorists I've worked with in the past requested them.

I'm going to stop now, before I start to give out terrible information.

That's correct, just the EDL from FCP is needed (all clips on track 1)

They are reconnected automatically in DaVinci. Just make sure you select the option to use the same file names. In DaVinci's Media Pool just select the R3D folder, everything else will work perfectly.

Can you guys tell me, if I'm using Resolve lite, do the clips I'm grading on the timeline have to be no larger than HD, or is it just the output that will be limited to HD?
