Scarlet footage is coming to Redcine-X far darker than on the LCD

This may seem a stupid question but as I am new to the Redcine-X workflow, and have only just received my Scarlet, I'm quite baffled as to why the imported footage from the camera is about a stop darker than what I'm seeing on the LCD. I've read elsewhere that this discrepancy is either to do with the look set in camera (although I currently have it on the default out-of-the-box look) or the calibration of my monitor and the use of REC 709.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure I've seen the monitor display the image at a different iso than it was claiming (like it was set to 800 in a dark room, but the image was about 'right'). The only hint I had that it was underexposed was the histogram. This only happened sometimes though.. so not sure what the 'cause' is. Either way, don't just decide the exposure is correct based on the image you see. Look at the histogram, and use the false color settings.

Then, in redcine-X, up your ISO or jump the exposure up a stop and you should be back to what the monitor was displaying...

Use your exposure tools, don't just expose by eye, especially when shooting RAW. But with that said, it is RAW so just adjust it in REDCINE until it looks good.

Your problem could be that if you're monitoring with the RAW tool active (Settings->Display->Tools->RAW) you're seeing the image without any ISO/FLUT/etc. in-camera settings applied. When you open the clip in Redcine-X you're looking at it with the settings you shot at.
