Scarlet FCP7 + Color Workflow Help

Hello! I am new to the RED world, and am trying to figure out a RED workflow for my Scarlet.

Some things I've learned so far is that there are no longer proxies that can be directly edited in FCP, and that FCP does not support the new Scarlet/Epic files.

So I am wondering what my best workflow will be. I will be compressing my footage for online and for BluRay.

My basic understanding of the workflow:

1. Import files to RCX
2. Transcode files to ProRes 4444
3. Import into FCP
4. Edit
5. Export XML
6. Open XML In RCX
7. Adjust White Balance and Tint, etc...

And that is where I get lost. Do I now export an XML to Color? I've heard of people exporting DPX but have never done that before.

Please help me figure out where the workflow goes from there, and if what I have already written is correct

I don't think you need to make this enormous Prores 4444 files if you are going to use them as offline edit anyway... Other people probably know more about this.

But today RED gave some updates, enabling Quicktime Proxies again for FCS 3 and (I suppose) FCP X. And RCX now supports an XML from FCPX (whoa, that's a lot of X's in one sentence) so I think you could just use Quicktime Reference files, send that to Color, and work from there.

Yeah I realized that it would be pointless to create such large files since I'm going to reconnect them later anyway.

How can I create these reference files and how do I work with them?

I just tried doing this in RCX- Export -> Quicktime Wrapper -> Setup -> Generate FCP XML -> QT Wrapper Type (?) (I selected P but it created one of each anyway?) -> OK

When I loaded this into FCP, I had to render the footage when placed on the timeline anyway. The P was very low quality, with M being reasonable, but taking much longer to render.

Not sure how to go about editing with proxies?
