Hello all, I received my upgraded Scarlet Dragon today and am very excited. However, I quickly noticed that Red did not instal the 2.0 fan upgrade. I called my Bomb Squad and he was under the impression that it didn't come with the new fan. I went back to my upgrade notification and it specifically states that the Scarlet upgrade includes the 2.0 upgrade. I sent this to the RMA department and my Bomb Squad rep to look into it.

With all of that being said, has anyone else that has received their upgrade had the same issue? Did yours include the 2.0 upgrade or was it also not installed?

Yes it's in the mail. It's one of the elements that push me to upgrade.

My Scarlet Dragon did not come with the 2.0 fan. I don't think it's standard for Scarlet.

So Red is advertising it in the upgrade notification but not installing it? That would be a real shame.

Dragon S doesn't need the fan upgrade as it runs cooler than Epic , I guess due to lower fps etc. Also remember Dragon does not have the same fan needs as MX.

My upgrade notice specifically stated that the upgrade included the 2.0 fan kit. The email that specifically stated that and the handling of the top plate as well as letting me know that it wouldn't work with the 2.0 fan suggest that it was coming with the camera.

Whether it absolutely needs it or not really isn't the point. They still sold it as an upgrade to Scarlet users and I am betting I could get away with lower fan settings if I had the 2.0 kit, so there should be a benifit to having the upgraded kit.

The real point here though is not its usefullness, but that I recieved a notification that specifically stated I was going to get the 2.0 kit with the upgrade. I'm sure everyone can understand that.

Red is a great company so I'm sure they will figure it out. I just wanted to see if anyone had the same issue or if mine was just an oversight.

Fair enough. But after MX I really surprised at how quite it runs ....without one.

Also a fair statement haha. I was pretty impressed with the original fan after the adaptive fan mode.

I got the same email just before I sold my MX. I honestly think it was a typo left from the Epic upgrade emails. I don't think the upgraded fans are necessary. It runs very quiet.

I hope that isn't the case. That would be a pretty big typo as I am sure I'm not the only one who noticed that the upgrade email stated the new fan was included.

It also stings a little more as I ended up spending extra money on the tactical top plate thinking that I was going to get the new fan. After sending the camera in I received an email from the RMA department that gave me 2 choices regarding the tactical top plate, "1) Modification: We can modify the bottom of the Top Plate (free of charge) to provide clearance for the DSMC 2.0 TOP FAN. 2) Trade-in: We can trade-in your Top Plate for the DSMC TACTICAL TOP PLATE 2.0..." I chose the upgrade option.

Anyway, it is all just a guess until I get a response from Red.

I did the same thing, bought the tactical top plate after upgrading to be compatible. Double checked the Scarlet when it came back and saw it had no 2.0 upgraded fan so I cancelled my top plate order. They screwed up on this for sure.

Yeah, we did screw up. A simple copy and paste error but unacceptable nonetheless. If you have a SCARLET DRAGON that was upgraded from a SCARLET M-X - and you would prefer the fan kit 2.0 over the 1.0, please email dragonupgrade@red.com. They will make sure you get a fan kit 2.0 at no charge. Apologies for this....

Thank you Brent Red is awesome as usual! ;D

Jim told me back in 2007 to put myself in the shoes of the customer. I would have felt baited and switched, so only reasonable we make it right
