Hi all,

Scarlet MX user here.

I have been forced to cancel my plan to upgrade from SCAR->EPICMX->Dragon, and just upgrade to SCAR Dragon , since WEAPON IS ON THE WAY TO TEAR #*$% UP!

Anyway,All seriousness, It is getting close to upgrade time;

My question is,

Can Scarlet Dragon shoot in 5.5K ? If so What is the max? is it the same as 5KFF(48fps 16:9)?

Thanks!

Actually. Epic Dragon does. :)

Then I guess I shouldn't rely on the specs for either since The Epic Dragon spec doesn't list it, either. Time to shuffle off to find Phil. lol

UPDATE: Phil's Dragon sheets indicate Scarlet Dragon does not shoot 5.5K. :-)

Scarlet can do 5K WS, which gives you 60fps. I use it often. Looks great. And Dragon compression is amazing. I still can't believe how things shot on 16:1 compression look so sharp and crisp with little breakup. Definitely a powerful sensor.

While we are exploring... can someone tell me what the lowest compression is on Scarlet Dragon at 5K and 4K? Thanks.

Anytime Terry... Take a look at this video shot on scarlet dragon with Canon 18-135 EFS lens. (Cheap kit lens).

First two shots are 2k 150fps upscaled to 4k timeline. Wanted to see how far I can push the 2k files.

Other slow motion shots are 4k 70fps and 5k WS 60fps at 16:1 compression.

You tell me how well the dragon compression holds up. (PS. My first time shooting on any RED camera solo). I mostly direct and have crews shooting for me... So, this was a cool learning experience.

Nice stuff indeed. I don't think I am at all worried about Scarlet Dragon compression. I was actually pretty impressed that the 2K up-rezzed pretty well, too.

BTW - which OLPF was that?

Just Ordered Scarlet MX -> Scarlet Dragon upgrade.
Nice Weapon future at the horizon!
Can't wait.
Only drawback is that i'll have to mis my camera for approx 1 month: sending to Pinewood, then USA, etc.

Man! Christopher those shots look great! I can't believe that was shot on that cheap EF-S lens. I have that lens and I never use it anymore. Maybe it's time to dust it off and go have some fun.
I agree with Terry, the uprez looks pretty darn good to.
