  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yes, this has been posted in the NAB forum, but I felt that I should close out this thread. For me, Scarlet-D is just about what I need; Epic-D would be a welcome step up for obvious reasons. I'll go for the Epic-D next year and enjoy the heck out of it for several years. $9500 is a screaming deal for what the Epic-D is, and the things that differentiate Weapon from Epic would be lost on me since I'm working on such a small scale, relatively speaking.
Psyched this is happening. It made no sense that Scarlet was being allowed to die on the vine.

The offer is until june though, no?
 
If the folks at RED were able to announce a while ago that M-X to Dragon upgrades would be ending at the end of June, then why do we only get this 10.5 week window in which to make the leap to Epic? I know this opportunity is more or less a gift to us Scarlet owners, since Scarlet-D was considered to be EOL when it was launched; but at least give us a reasonable window of time in which to upgrade. Sure, (almost) everyone is going bananas for the new camera and whatnot, but giving us until the end of 2015 feels a bit better.

It almost feels as if they're doing the bare minimum to honor their Obsolescence Obsolete ethos so they can say "there was an upgrade path from Scarlet-D to Epic-D, so we've never had a product actually be EOL."
10.5 weeks seems like a bit of a sleight, whereas M-X upgrades have been going on for how many years?

If they get the upgrade line up and running, isn't it more cost effective to keep it going for twice as long, or until the end of the year?

Sorry to come off as a whiner, but this upgrade window is sort of BS.

I want to give them my $ as soon as I can pull it together, but unfortunately it won't be in the next several weeks.

There is no Weapon Scarlet, only Weapon Magnesium.
$9500 to go from Scarlet-D to Epic-D before the end of June, or $32,000 to jump to Weapon Magnesium from 1 July on.

I know, i know... Was just a little dreaming here about a Weapon Aluminium body and 6k-motion = next Scarlet. ;)
