  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet Discussion (was part of Module Ship Dates...)

I'm overly pessimistic and I think you should be too. I'm either always right or shockingly surprised leaving me in a win-win situation. I've been waiting for a Scarlet or Scarlet S35 since 2008, I lost hope in 2009 when I bought a 5D MkII. Now things are back on track and I'm very excited along with all the computer updates we'll see Q1 & Q2 of 2012.

Currently I'm saving for an Epic-X or whatever comes along the road. There seems to be a group of you who can't hold their anxiety about a release date for the Scarlet. I'm just as anxious as everyone especially since my camera got stolen a few months back and have nothing to shoot on not to mention all the cameras currently on the market in my price range suck.

I don't see why we all can't wait patiently I know I have, 2012 is near and Christmas is around the corner! RED has our back and you shouldn't doubt them, they've made it this far and conquered the hardest hurdles the rest is down hill from here if you think about.

So take a chill pill and enjoy the ride:emote_hippie:

to be fair to the current red one and epic customers they did have large amounts of money sitting in red accounts while they had to wait, so it's a little insulting to say they don't understand yes they had a red but they also had a potential epic on the way and no idea when for a long time. Now that's not to say that scarlet hopefuls haven't done the same thing, and perhaps it's even harder when you can spend it more easily.

Thing is, as has been stated no professional or person who aims to be professional should plan around or wait for an unreleased product to shoot a project. the responsibility of making sure your projects are completed (by a certain date) and up to a certain quality standard is up to you not red.

Honestly it sucks but there is nothing you can do about it, I've been here since the beginning... well watching, and I understand the frustration I want it here yesterday as well. I find things in this world happen when they are supposed to, not before, so perhaps it's just not time yet.

Red owes us nothing, just as we don't have to buy red if another camera pops up, though due to their commitment and attitude which some hate many of us would not, also most likely due to choices other manufacturers continue to make that I and others disagree with. but to each their own.

I have no red camera, have been waiting for one since I saw the announcement of the red one way back in the day right around the spike days I believe, I went through the embarrassing years of telling my friends "this season I'm going to have this awesome camera and I'll get the best footage of us on the mountain" and each year they ripped on me for it, until I grew up (I was already an adult officially just not mentally, heck I'm still working on it as we all should our whole lives) and began to see it how it is, it will be out when it's out and if I can afford it I will buy it till then I will do the best with what I have and what I can scrape together and never look back.

Peace, and play nice!

Ok I appologize to anyone if it seems like I blew up there. Not the case. I'm pretty sure everyone is still planning on shooting. I'm still shooting regardless of what camera I have in hand. Sorry for the rant I had. Certain things said just really hit me wrong I guess. Everyone is guilty, everyone is waiting. I know RED doesn't owe us anything. Here is to hoping we all get everything we're waiting for soon to blow the world away visually in every field possible!

We Scarleteers should take some comfort from Jim's general road map announcement. Scarlet is NEXT in the lineup of new cameras!

Beyond that what more can Red tell us until they are 100% certain themselves of the package, prices, and production schedule? They are not going to indulge us or themselves with any more teases, guesstimates and maybes at this point, nor should they. It has come back to haunt them too often in the past.

The news on modules is all good as those are potential components of the Scarlet system too. Red is making steady progress in their transition to an efficient production line manufacturer.

... Scarlet NEXT!

Can't wait!:thumbup1:

all is good... butterflies and rainbows... Chocolate covered lollipops fore everyone... Jeffery, you were spot on with your "rant".., which I wouldn't call a rant at all. More like passion based truth ; ) never lose that character trait.

I understand the frustration. really I do. But what part of "We are focusing 100% on getting EPIC-X out the door right now.... Let us get through that before we dig into the rest of the roadmap" is unclear ?

Epic X then Epic S, then Scarlet. Sorry but it would be great if every thread didn't fill with Scarlet questions that even Red unfortunately can't answer yet.

My understanding from other threads is Epic X, then Scarlet, then Epic S.

Thanks. I'm really a fiery person. I get heated pretty easily! I saw some of those this morning and had some less happy, and a way worst attitude and brought it down a good amount. I'm very passionate about everything I'm interested in. I'm also a very easy person to give directions too, and usually take in others input as advice and take it to heart, or try and see there side. This is one instance, where it was hard to see. I hope I never lose that trait as well. Thanks for the compliment. I am losing it somewhat when it comes to women as I'm soon to be married and it has taught me alot about seeing both sides. But its hard here because you have alot of different people, with different wants, needs and budgets.

We often all lose site that there are others out there. It's easy to do. I do it daily as I see only my wants. We should all want for RED to hit every market. I just felt like some of those posts were clearly off base. Yes we Scarlet folk tend to get out of hand and ask, or hint more than once that we'd like to know some info. Even when Jim clearly stated it wasn't going to be announced until it was ready.

Epic owners are clearly as guilty. With Pro I/O modules, do sidehandles come with there X...etc...where are my batteries and chargers. Which I understand you need to have on hand. But in this instance they were calling out a crowd they really had no room to touch. I'm not saying they all act high and mighty but some do. Some clearly forget there are others out there. This site is made up of great people, with great passion. We all forget others exist out of our own selfishness and our instant gratification. I'm no more innocent than anyone else. It just peeves me when someone gets called out by those who are doing the same elsewhere on the site. I think alot of this has to do with the philosophy change and it is really just starting to hit what is changing.

My only request is no more teases to teases. If teases keep coming, the speculation and questions like this will always happen on both ends. This is where the Philosophy change confuses me. I know one thing for me that frustrates me and maybe other future Scarlet and Epic S owners is seeing teases at new ideas and technology when something that we've been waiting for hasn't even been finished. Don't take this wrong. We know improvements are happening and it's all for the better but its hard to see tech advances you want to be part of but are coming before you can even touch what we've been waiting longer for. I'm not saying anyone is stopping shooting, or that my projects have to be on Scarlet, I'll shoot either way. I just am saying we believe in RED, this is what we want to be a part of. Our careers don't depend on it. This gets taken out of context way to much. We don't hinge our projects on this, we just want to see and know whats coming so if we can prepare and plan for it we can and will know what we're looking at long term.

I'm human, I'm the same, I know when I'm excited about something, especially when i want to surprise someone with something I want to tell them I have a surprise for them...then they find out they have to wait ....blank amount of time... and wonder what it is, when it will be there etc... It drives them crazy. I wasn't as disappointed personally with delays when everything was open with RED. Now it just hit's harder with teases, and irrelevant (to Scarlet) updates, I get my hopes up and I'm never close. I have to get used to this, we all do.

I love you all RED, thank you for your HARDWORK. I'm saving for an X if the Scarlet never comes, You have my business because your are passionate like all of us.

Epic X then Epic S, then Scarlet. Sorry but it would be great if every thread didn't fill with Scarlet questions that even Red unfortunately can't answer yet.
As far as I recall, Epic-S was never officially scheduled to precede Scarlet. Now S isn't even on the roadmap, at least not by that name.

I do, however, understand Kalani Prince's frustration at Red's being able to confidently announce modules three or four months before release but give no indication of when Scarlet might be released. That tells me it's either fairly imminent or more than four months away.

That tells me it's either fairly imminent or more than four months away.
and that is what is exciting/scary for all wannabe Scarlet users (and often first time Red Owners).
