  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HIGHLY frustrating, ESP. When I have a job coming up shortly, ordered on day 1, was charged a week ago... And no Scarlet en route, yet.

Sigh.

uuugh. I ordered within minutes of it being posted. Then I had to cancel to arrange for the funds. Then they ran out. Then I ordered a BT RED ONE MX (which hasn't shipped either) then I see these people who have received their Scarlets who haven't even used them and are now trying to resell them. They claim that they do not want profit but you still would have to send it back to RED to do a transfer (and pay for it) which would mean even more wait time. I can understand that RED does not want to send out cameras which may come back to them because of defects if they haven't been tested properly. But seriously I bet there were dozens of people who bought only to flip them. So much for friends and family pricing.

i already got my BT scarlet but since then there was this little price drop an epics....don't get me wrong, i am happy but looking back, i might have waited a little, scraped a little more together and gone for the epic....the good thing now is that i can do that AND shoot, which makes the time to come up with the extra cash a lot sweeter....
but really i am also waiting to hear about dragon and what is in the works for scarlet....
regardless, anyone who got the BT deal should be very happy....amazing camera, amazing deal.....well worth the wait....
 
I have a feeling Scarlets won't be upgraded to dragon (as I think it will likely not be cost efficient to do so). I only hope that we will have full trade in value if we want to upgrade to EPIC and then Dragon. Then again who even knows how that could work. I paid the more expensive brain price + ssd + lens mount for my Scarlet. While the BT Scarlets were significantly less. Then the new Scarlet price is even different from that. So it will be interesting to see how any type of trade in can work for everyone.

Oh well if they dont upgrade it will still be a great starter kit for most of us.

To me, Scarlet is a major upgrade from my previous camera which was next to nothing.

Okay well the GoPro did help me video my stupid antics on skate/snow/trails ;)

Im looking forward to learning this camera so I can be prepared for anything thrown at me.
 
Deal of a Month! I think that would describe this deal better. Despite all the assertions that this "deal" is "incredible" and "amazing," the price of a used Scarlet now hovers around $7000 a mere month later.

When I last posted, I was worried my order had somehow been lost in the cracks, as my card had been charged a week ago, and the web order page said it was 'delivered.' My rep however was able to clarify that it was in relation to a sales tax glitch that affected a few of the orders, and they were working hard to resolve the issue. I feel better knowing that everyone at RDC has been upfront, and quick to answer our questions. Though I admit I am anxious to get my camera as soon as possible, I understand that they have a lot on their plate right now, with all of the changes happening, and I know they are doing the best they can. All in all, I know it will be here before too long, and the years of production ahead will far outweigh a few days more in waiting.

BTW, in light of the situation, I am naming my BT Scarlet "Cobra Commander," because I haven't felt this kind of excitement and anticipation for something I ordered since I sent in my UPC's to get my 'Hooded Cobra Commander' when I was a kid. And yes, if and when I go Epic, you got it, "Serpentor." Yep I'm a geek.
 
Congrats Eric, great news. Hoping mine will arrive in the UK sometime shortly, ordered 1 month ago today, knew it wouldn't be instant but surprised that a month later and still no news as yet.
I know Sam my UK bomb squad rep (who does a great Job) will push the buttons as best he can.

All who have got their's all ready congrats and happy shooting/filming well digital filming.
 
Looks like mine is ready for allocation as well! Great communication from Bryan Wilcox.
