  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-D to Epic upgrade actual turnaround time.

Hello!
I am ready to send in my brain for upgrade and am wondering if anyone has a more specific idea of what the turnaround is. All I've been told by my BS rep is the standard 7-10 business days.
 
Dropped my Scarlet Dragon off at the RED NYC Store on Wed May 6th and received my Epic Dragon on Wed May 27th. 3 weeks. There were no delays or issues with my upgrade process that I'm aware of.
 
I shipped mine both ways (to/from San Francisco) and, door-to-door, it took slightly less than three weeks for my Scarlet to Scarlet Dragon upgrade.
 
Question: Just curious, but are you guys saying that if you own a new Scarlet D you have an upgrade path to Epic Dragon (not just epic M)? I don't see any info on the website stating this. My understanding is the upgrade path only goes from Epic MX to Epic D and Scarlet MX can go Scarlet D or Epic MX only. In addition, Scarlet MX to Scarlet D upgraders can't go any further. Did something change?

Scarlet Dragon to Epic Dragon upgrade was a surprise introduction around NAB.

3 weeks?! That sounds kind of crazy. I figure if they're just checking out your old camera and sending you the new one, doesn't seem like it should take more than a week.
 
To follow up on the original post; my EPIC Brain shipped today (6/15). Including three days of shipping, it was 11 business days total.
 
Another upgrade: Sent my Scarlet-D in 3 June (two day FedEx). Arrived in Irvine the morning of 5 June. RED shipped new Epic-D on 15 June (two day FedEx), so my Epic-D arrived today, 17 June.
Many thanks to Clark McClanahan, Bomb Squad Rep extraordinaire, and to Jim and Jarred for offering this upgrade path. Ten days total at RED, which could have been 9 days had I not added an
unintended 1-day delay.

Still thinking about a proper name ....
 
My Scar-D to Epic-D upgrade switch was super fast; less then a week.
The impression I have is that an RMA tech inspects your Scar-D, then just give you a whole new Epic-D brain.
I don't think their using any parts from the Scar-D.

I suspect if anything, most delays are just related to bank transfers


The whole process was Truly a fantastic and fast deal
