Scarlet Controls w/ SDI Monitor

Hey everyone,

I just received my Scarlet & was trying to use the Redmote + Marshall SDI monitor. None of the menus/info seem to appear on the screen no matter what I do.

Is it possible to show menus/control functions on one of these?

I didn't order a Red monitor...I'd be pretty heated if that was a requirement. The Marshall has worked fine with every other camera I've owned including the Red One.

The menu will display on your monitor if the options are turned on for that. What build are you running?

As a side note, I believe the touchscreen or at least a side handle is way more critical than the remote. The Remote battery can die, and connections can be lost. Too risky in my books.

There are a set of "force_preset" files you can use to setup the camera to use either HDMI or HDSDI for menus by default. You can find them in the download page under DSMC Resources, just follow the included instructions.

Alternately, since you have a REDmote you can change the HDSDI Mode to "Menus". The HDSDI Mode slot is on page 8 (iirc) of the REDmote. Put the REDmote in local mode and you can select the Menus option.

My mistake...I have a Side Handle. Getting used to all of the new names.

I've tried installing a preset with the "force_preset" folder & "enable_menus_hdsdi_1080p.preset". Still no menus, but the Scarlet is successfully deleting the force preset folder after it starts up.

I'm formatting the Redmag with a Red One because I have no access to anything but an image on the scarlet. Any ideas? Is there a button on the side handle to make a menu pop up?

Note: Using first version of Beta 4, so maybe that's my issue.

It would be a little too difficult to explain the sequences like that but
i've pm'd you a message on how "force_preset" outputting
menus to hdsdi monitor for controlling menus via Side handle.

Can you share what he explained that's not part of the documentation so we can make this less frustrating for future users?

you're very welcome Ryan,

i've experienced the same frustration on a shooting
and a friend quickly emailed a preset file from the US
it saved our day.

So i did a quicky test of a 4.0.3 preset fro Ryan on my Scarlet build 4.0.3 this morning just to be sure...
