  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet "Burst Mode" ?

Not to be a party-pooper, but you are just gonna need to wait and see :)

I can tell you one thing though.. Burst mode is called Burst mode for a reason. Glad to see most of you guys being realistic.

No worries, Jarred. I'll do my best to be patient! :-) Hmmm... makes me wonder if you can implement burst mode during mid-record. That would be bitchin'.

Can you comment, however, about 3K and Ramping be added to the Scarlet S35 and FF35?

much appreciated,

5 seconds is fine by me...

I just can't wait to see ;)

does it really matter how long the burst will be? 3, 5 10 secs? Of course, the longer the cooler it will be, but they will be offering the highest amount of recordingtime that hardware and technology will be able to give them. And since I'm sure about that, I'll be happy with every second offered.

What I'm still pondering over again and again is why the burst mode on the 2/3" scarlet can be 150fps with 3k but on the S35 or FF35 there's no speed bursts below 5k higher than 72fps. or is it just not mentioned?

Ok, I know "real frame rates cost real money" ;) and I totally understand that part of the deal. I'm only talking about the burst here, and I'm just trying to understand the hardware limitations in itself: is it the sensor size and redcode dictating the amount of fps available, and not the xamountof K resolution I'll be shooting with? Meaning: no matter how low I will go with the resolution, the fps burst will always stay the same as given for the highest res available?
thanx to anyone who can shed some light onto this... or I'll just continue to grow more grey hair until this summer/fall ;)

My guess is 5 seconds.

Actually, I believe that's what Jannard said in a post here somewhere. 5 sec. If that's the case, then it's plenty. 5 sec of 150 fps.

The framerates on the little Scarlets are great, as everything else.

Actually I think that the 2/3" models are the real solid options, despite the smaller sensor. They're not limited in any way.

The 35mm Scarlets are OK, but - limited in options and, of course, more expensive.

The next real solid step would be an Epic system, FF35mm Epic to be exact. :sifone:

I prefer to buy the little 2/3" Interchangeable model and then look for ways to upgrade to an Epic.

Still hoping to hear if 3K and Ramping are possible on the S35 and FF35 Scarlet.
Those features are not listed, and yet they are important to me as a future S35 owner.

If this is not possible, I would at least like to know why, since I can't see how it would not work.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I continue to hope that a windowed 3K @ 60fps on FF35 Scarlet will materialize before all is said and done.

Yeah this is one thing that I think is strange.

On the Epic you get a small framerate jump every time you reduce resolution. By the same logic, the 6K/100fps brain which presumably has a little more bandwidth than the 5K/100fps brain is slightly faster at 2K, 3K, 4K, 5K.

On the Scarlet you don't get that. 4K isn't any faster than maximum resolution. 2K isn't any faster on the 6K/30fps brain than the 5K/30fps brain.

that sure didn't last long :)

Hah! :-) - Sorry, but I thought your response only was covering the Burst Mode as nothing was mentioned about 3K and Ramping. If you can not answer at this time, I understand.
