I upgraded to the Beta firmware 2 days ago. I shot an hour long interview and there was NO audio recorded. Here's my setup (proven to work with previous firmware).

RED Scarlet-X
A-Box
Sennheiser Shotgun
Balanced 48V setup in camera

Meters were solid (Love the new markings)
Phones sounded GREAT!

What gives? Anyone having this problem? Image looks great... but I'm sure I'll never work with this client again. I know, I should have tested before and this is what I get.

Adobe Premiere CS6 is all I've dropped the footage in at the moment. I have a clip in the same timeline that is loud and clear...

Just did a quick test record on build 4 with the A-box and phantom powered RODE shotgun mic. Brought it into CS6 fine and everything sounded crisp and perfect. Hopefully that gives you some form of hope.

OK... Sorry for the premature post. The audio sounds great in RCX. Where do I go from here? Do I have to export the clip from RCX? I'm going to try exporting an .R3D trim. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the quick responses!

I'd suggest looking at CS6.

Are you running the latest Red plug-ins? If you've updated CS6 recently, you need to reinstall them.

same happen to me I accidently was recording at 24.98 instead of 23.98 something happened during my upgrade and no audio was recorded. Does anyone know how to get playback non slow motion when recording at 48fps or higher? It seems to default to a 23.978 frame rate?

FYI…If you're dropping R3D files straight into Premiere, you might be trying to play the files before the software has had a chance to "conform" them. I've noticed when I import just about any files into CS6, there's a bar at the lower right corner that shows some kind of import process happening. Until that's finished, I don't get any audio playback, even though the video will play back fine.

I exported an .R3D Trim out of RCX and it kicked out a .WAV file as well. Blew away the additional .R3D files and dropped the .WAV into the timeline. Crisis averted.

Thanks again for the quick help. Gotta love this community!

I noticed that as well. I'll see what happens if I re-import and walk away for a bit.

Settings > Project > Timebase

If you record at any frame rate other than the project base (varispeed), you will not get audio recorded. If you want to shoot at 48 fps with sound, you need to set your project base to that and then enable sound recording as usual. You can tell if you re not in the project base if the fps rate shown on the monitor is yellow.
