I'm about to record a concert with a few scarlets. Its with a tight budget so everything is "home made". I have a Blackmagic Television Studio, and it only accepts interlaced signal. Any ideas how to get a interlaced signal for the switcher? It is going to be used, basically, as a monitor for the director.

Crazy ideas are welcome. Expensive ones, nah.

Hey Luiz, I have shot concerts with Reds for the last 4 years and the results are phenomenal!

The best way by far is to not attempt any type of live cutting, therefor you don't even need the BM studio. Depending one where your cameras are located, just set up a monitor for each camera and have your director watch and direct. These can be $140 HDMI computer monitors or rent some HD-SDI monitors and cable for the day if you need particularly long runs.

Then take the SSDs back to the studio and cut it right.

Luiz,

According to the BMD specs page for that device, it will accept: 1080i50, 1080i59.94, 720p50, 720p59.94. (Note that BMD is notoriously bad at actually making their products live up to the spec sheet, so YMMV.)

I assume that when you set your Scarlet for 1080, you run into the following limitation from Red: HD-SDI is True Progressive and does not support 1080i or 1080 PsF signal formats.

What happens when you use either the HDMI input at 1080, or the HD-SDI input with the Scarlet set to 720? Does that work?
