I am planning to travel in June extensively for project work and need to determine whether I have a hope in hell of obtaining a Scarlet 2/3" or the S35 system by June / July next year. I am pretty sure I'm dreaming.

I am under the impression that the Red One users will get first dibs, followed by US customers. I also expect that they release date will move and that either way the cameras will take a while to become available in Australia and Asia.

Is anyone in a position to shed some light on this?

My alternative will be the 1D MK IV but if there is a slim chance the Scarlet will be available over this way by then I will hang on.

You are not alone in dreaming, Christopher  A year ago I decided to go for the Scarlet S35 upon its release. This, I thought, would give me plenty of time to get acquainted with the S35 before my July/August 2010 expedition to Greenland to film the arctic char. At that time my Greenland expedition was almost 1.5 years away!!! Looks like the S35 won’t materialize in time for my expedition anymore, particularly since I also need an underwater housing to go with it...

Guess I will have to do another expedition in July/August 2011

Well I gather than I am in fact dreaming. May / June release will more than likely become August / September (or later) and then there will be huge demand.

For my work it is just a matter of time before I go Red lock stock and barrel. I am tired of updating my gear every 1 - 2 years so the modularity of the Scarlet system (not to mention how friggen awesome they will be) is extremely appealing.

I will need a new DSMC system for next year so I will probably invest in the 1DMK IV as a stop gap for 2010 while I wait for the Scarlet systems to become available.

There won't be a bias to US customers, that's the beauty of the web ordering system.

I got one of the first Red Rockets and I'm in Sydney!

Interesting. Thanks Jim for the info. If they are simply shipping orders first come first served (after servicing existing Red One users) than we might actually see cameras here not long after they are released.
