Apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but I haven't been following Scarlet developments closely .... just wondering what the situation is with Scarlet and Stereo 3D?

Will we be able to sync two Scarlets up together in a S/B rig in a Master/Slave config? ... if so, what will be the approx. weight?

Has anyone shot any Scarlet S3D test footage?

Thanks,
Neil

Currently there have been no public tests of Scarlet S3d, probably a ton of internal ones.

There is Shutter Sync, both in/out and Genlock.

Thanks Zac ... and do you know if you'll be able to set the two cameras up in a Master/Slave config so that any settings in Master camera will be automatically transferred to the Slave camera?

And/or, with precise settings, you'll be able to slave 1 redmote to 2 cameras, to control both settings with one device...

This has been talked about alot by red, but we haven't seen it yet.

Master / Slave is done through the ethernet cable.

Cool ... and what's the best guess on the weight of a couple of Scarlets in an appropriate ET B/S rig?

PERFECT! ... exactly what I was looking for ... many thanks Kwan .... that's an incredibly mobile and lightweight configuration ... we're prepping for a S3D feature to be shot in the Fall which involves Parkour free-runners ... the Producers are looking at alternative cameras systems but that Scarlet Steadicam rig demoed by Pedro would be so much better for jumping across roofs and doing summersaults across walls (just kidding).

So, two other quick questions:

1) is the Scarlet .3rd workflow exactly the same as EPIC and RED One? ... ie, just take the .3rd files and transcode them through RedRocket to ProRes or DNXHD ... do the offline and then online conform to either DaVinci Resolve or SMOKE for geometry and color correction?

2) what's the best intel on when Scarlet will ship? .... yep, I know the official position ... no announced date and all subject to change, etc .... but we must be getting close.

Thanks for starting this thread. I was wondering a little more info on this very subject. I remember vaguely the pic that appeared on RED's website a while ago showing a render of two cams - Epic or Scarlet - side by side to form a stereoscopic rig.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, me, and every future Scarlet user that it'll be out by then!

It has been stated that the REDmote can control settings on several cameras at once, no need for cables n all that
