Hey, looking to pick up the hypershuttle and mounitng plate, few questions to those who have them already..

what is the spacing on the holes along the side of the cheese plate, would it mount to one of these for instance standing on a long side?

http://x.corecommerce.com...lamp-19mm.html

if you aren't using the plate, how do you mount yours usually?

also, how are others powering their shuttles? i was considering a d-tap to 12-18 volt but havent found anything short yet.

any recomendations? I plan on mounting the whole kit on 19mm rods behine my battery on behind the camera so. close to HD-SDI and power...

thanks for any tips!

Don't remember the spacing and my recorder is out on a job, but usually I place it on a magic arm at the back or on a rod bracket (I use tho one from Express35 for 15mm).
The cheese plate is super heavy, heavier than the recorder itself!!! If you want to limit the weight I recommend Velcro (or better, DualLock from M2) on a flat surface like a battery or te back of a monitor. You can also use bunnies and hope for the best. I mount it like that on Steadicam to avoid the extra weight.
This is an amazing and cheap solution for proxies and it now records apple ProRes HQ!

Anyone who owns one of these, two quick questions.

Does it support timecode and/or can it be triggered by the Scarlet via hdsdi?

When used as a playback device to an hdmi monitor, does it offer thumbnails of clips?

Thanks in advance.

I second these questions and ask, in general, how well it plays with the Scarlet. It seems like a good low-priced alternative to many of the other recorders out there.

I talked to Ryan at wooden cam and he says the 19mm rod clamp is a good solution for the shuttle with cheese plate,

Ive heard its heavy but I figure better have it secure and tight behind the camera on 19mm rods then having it possibly falling off at some point.

Can't wait to give it a spin though, seems like a sweet little add on.

I know the epic (so probably also the scarlet) can trigger it through sdi, and it also takes the same timecode, filename will be different, it does't read that yet.

The unit itself doesn't way to much, but the cheesplate, which it actually quite essential, weighs more than the whole recorder, so together, its quite big and heavy. they really should have added just 3 mounting point on the edges instead of this ridiculous expensive and heavy cheeseplate

Anyone know about thumbnails for playback? I'm considering buying one of these soon if it generates thumbnails. It would be great to keep an entire show on a single drive for dailies and for quick access on set. Would be a great solution to permately set one of these up in video villiage.

Thanks in advance.

No, it doesn't do thumbnails, not even lower quality proxies, only high quality DNxHD or ProRes. Have a look at the Ninja 2, it can be set to record proxy quality.

BTW, when we tested the Hyperdeck, there was a minor bug regarding trigger recording: you needed to make one single recording by manual trigger after activating the unit. From that moment on it was recording by camera trigger just fine. Might be fixed in current software, I can't check that since we went Ninja.
