  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet and Epic BUILD 4 BETA

focus bug when lookaround on

focus bug when lookaround on

Reporting something I found:

With lookaround enabled, LCD zoomed in, 'single' focus , enhanced focus on and then doing a focus, the result is always off a bit. The error is always the same.
Turning off lookaround gets you the more accurate focus, which looks as accurate as non enhanced focus.

I was testing with a Canon 17-55 f2.8 set at f2.8.

Also: I did see the circle on some earlier testing, but now it is gone, and I get the box only.
How do I get the circle and other confirmation indicators back ? Should I reflash the firmware or ?

Thanks.

Make sure you are still in AF confirm mode.

If you want to reset the camera you can also hold the power button for 15 seconds while powering up rather than re-flashing the firmware.

Dorian can you please try setting the refresh rate of the LCD to 30 Hz? This was suggested earlier in the thread, but probably got buried.

You can specify the refresh rates of the monitors independently, so make sure you are changing the LCD rate and not another monitor.

I mentioned in my first post; I set the refresh rate from 59.94 Hz to 30 Hz on the Brain LCD, close the menu (Mode is set to Menus) and shut off. When I boot up, the same freeze, need to unplug the cable to the camera and then it tells me "Improper Shutdown" But at least I get a video. When I go to Monitor Control, the setting is back at 59.94 Hz. I tried the same with "Rear LCD 30 Hz" but after boot up, it is back to "Brain LCD 59.94 Hz" No other options to set the Hz.

Great update RED, thank you!

A few bug i've come across:

* Seems that when i go to 1:1 zoom , ISO has no effect on monitor path anymore
* When I press record dirctly from playback, the image gets all funky with green and purple patches/ bands across the screen - reeboot fixes it.
* When I go from playback to live, the image gets all funky sometimes (like above) - reeboot needed.
* When I switch resolutions the screen often dimms down for a few seconds, and then comes back up normal
* After sleep, the monitor seems to change freequenzy and the screens flickers quite a bit, changing setting like resolution ISO etc, seems to make the flickering go away...takes a little while.
* After coming out of 1:1 zoom the raw view is way too contrasty and has a greenish tint to it - reeboot fixes it.

Great update !

But a lot of screen issues !

I would like to second your request as using this feature underwater is difficult at best without a clear ON-OFF buttom for Pre-record.
I am sure there are many more of us underwater/wildlife that would like this feature to be "on " for as long as we choose to.

I thought it was mentioned earlier in this thread that it's had aux power since day 1? Is that not the case?

That is absolutely false. They do not work with anything.

If someone has powered something with the aux power on the Pro I/O please tell RED how you did it, and tell me too.

The new RedMote communication is great!

Request:
Formating a mag with the RedMote is not intuitive at all... is it even possible? It should mimic the user interface in the vievfinder/touch lcd somehow, making it easy to understand...

The only way to format a mag using the REDmote is to have the REDmote in remote mode and drive the camera through its menu system.

Confirmed that the refresh rate not saving is a bug. It will be fixed in the next beta release.
