Folks,

We're considering ordering the Atomos Samurai to support our Scarlet. Just wondering, does the Samurai use the same clipnames the scarlet is using? Would we be able to relink to the r3d files if we edit with the Samurai files?

Thanks in advance.

no, clip names are not the same. So you can not relink, only if you do it manually
it will roll automatically with the Red, and you can also do playback later from the redmags, change meta data, and record to samurai.

if matching clip names is what your looking for check out the pix240, I used it for a week or so on set and its really quite wonderful!

Have 240. a-ma-z-i-n-g quality in both construction and performance. Sound Devices know how to build field gear!!
and - follows R3D files to match your SSD - originals. You def get what you pay for...

It should be a non issue after next firmware

You guys sure are making it more and more difficult for us to adhere to the vow we made late last year of not talking about products till they are ready to be released :)

heh heh heh....

until then.. there are a handful of great 3rd party products that create nice Pro-Res and DNXhd files that bolt to the back of the camera that let you record both RGB and your 5K raw files. The "record friendly" feed will be coming in not the build that is coming next week, but the build after.

I tested them both and you get what you pay for.
The image itself is about par, but handling and audio is not. Audio in the Samurai is pretty much crap when compared to a PIX.
