So with Dragon that will be available next year, what can we expect the Scarlet to do after it has been upgraded? Same specs as the Epic is at this moment? 300fps at 2k? 5K at 30fps?Full frame on the Scarlet?

Because the Scarlet sounds like a great deal right now if it will allow for a performance boost that will not only push the Epic to 6k and more, but also push the Scarlet to near current Epic specs. But also, I'm not really too familiar as to how powerful of a performance increase we should be expecting with Dragon.

Also, any hint or guess as to the cost of the upgrade? Thanks.

Right now it's not about the 4-5-6k that matters it's about the quality of the image and the frame rates. that's where the focus needs to be. Scarlet would have been the best camera for 3k with higher frames rates. now we have higher sensor but less option to create great moments in cinema. slowmotion, HDR etc.. the focus needs to be on that not the sensor.

I completely agree with you, I'm just wondering what we should expect and how big of a boost we should see when upgrading next year.

I guess time will tell. Now i'm just they are just busy to get it out there. it will take time before we see some upgrade. it's new for them too. i'm sure around FEB. we should here some news and updates on the firmware to give more possibilties. cause the camera is a great, amazing camera. i prefer to have more frames rate in the 3k to give more chance to the Epic. Epic is the biggest camera with all the options possible so it's normal that the scarlet is limited but i think 60frames per second should be at least in the 3k sensor. I'm sure RED knows all of this. they just need time to experiment on their side too.

I think it will get is closer to where the Epic-S was supposed to be. 5k 60p, 2k 120p, half that with HDRx.

If that is the case, then that will be amazing. The other concern will also be how much it's going to cost to upgrade it. Besides that, how long it's going to take for them to upgrade, considering there is going to be a TON of Epic/Scarlets sent in for this very purpose. If it means being without a camera for a month, that would be horrible.
