Arrived and unboxed.

"That's it...?" - my girlfriend, underwhelmed by its size. (She meant it in the most complimentary way though. She knows this camera is the bomb)

I'll post some photos in a bit, but excited that it came with the Side Handle. Thought for sure I'd be renting bricks or something. Setting it up now. Very excited.

Edited to add some pics.

Yes skin tones, high contrast shots, and an outdoor shot of a nice looking lady sitting in some shade perhaps.

Thanks man!

Cool, I'll see if I can get an actress friend of mine to go for a walk around and we'll shoot some stuff. Tomorrow probably, so I'll bump this thread.

Congrats on your new baby! I just got #629 and no side handle for me... Luckily I have one from my M. But good to see that the wait may not be long!

Here come some outdoor, high contrast tests on the Scarlet with Zeiss ZE primes. I tried to find areas with harsh sunlight/shadow, but also pops of color. I didn't use any ND, and compensated with high shutter speed so I could get as clean an example as possible. All shots are redcode 6:1, 4k, and around f5.6-f8.

#1: Downtown Alley (R3D File link)

Zeiss 28mm 2.8

Pretty drastic shadows and direct sunlight. Shadow cuts a sign with colors. Lots of colorful christmas lights around the building.

The camera and lens held details in highlights and shadow pretty well. Even so far as to have details deep inside the building and clouds in the sky.

#2 Urth Cafe (R3D Link)

Zeiss 28mm 2.8

Test for skin tones (and questioning looks from a distance) in shadow. Color and highlights.

Zeiss 28mm 2.8

Skin tones in sun and shadow, high contrast difference in color. Held detail and color very well all across the image. Selected a frame where the guy in the green shirt was in half shadow, half direct sunlight.

#4 - Student Film on Palmetto (R3D File Link)

Zeiss 50mm 1.4

Wanted to try the 50mm on the bricks to see how it captured the detail. Again, some skin tones and harsh direct sunlight. Chose a frame where the white car and the dark green car converged.

Doing a Zeiss ZE skin tone test with one of my friends here in a little bit. Will upload a couple shots when we're done.
