G'day guys,

This may seem like an overly obvious question but because the Scarlet has a native 5k sensor up to 12fps
( which is great if your a fashion photographer ) but when doing motion capture at 4K will there be any crop factor
when using Cine lenses????? like will 12mm prime continue to be a 12mm prime????

cheers
Dean

The 4K crop of the 5K sensor is the super 35mm frame. 5K is actually just a bit oversized of a super 35mm frame, so 4K on the Scarlet or 4k on the Epic should actually work better with less vignetting on standard super 35mm lenses, wide angles, etc.

So to answer your question, YES, the Scarlet and Epic have 5K sensor sizes, but 4k is a using most of the sensor but cropping a tiny bit. Again the good news is that 4k on the Scarlet is like super 35 so the focal length of the pl mounted glass should be accurate. If using Canon mount FF 35 lenses , there is a great chart in the Sticky section titled Scarlet Data or something.

Yeah thanks for clarification guys, i suspected it would be virtual nothing in regards to Standard Cine lenses

i've seen that thread before SCARLET X DATA SHEET and i dont agreed that the crop factor is 1.6x , mainly because that figured is

derived from a FF35 reference @ 50mm focal length in the demonstration, it'd only be relevent in stills photography

This statement is not totally right : latest cine lenses are designed to cover the 5K sensor without vignetting.

thanks for the correction, so the latest series of Cine lenses are designed with the growing Digital cinema potential in mind??
