Reading all these posts about issues with the Scarlets I wanted to state, that there are also Scarlets, that do work flawlessly out of the Box.
I got my 456 about a Month ago and shot several Tests and real Sets without one single hickup. I work with the WoodenCamera V-Mount and
Globalmediapro Akkus, SmallHD DP6 or DP4, several Sigma (autofocus is awfully off, but thats no a problem of the scarlet ;-), Nikon and
Canon Glasses between f1.2 and f2.8 on Sticks, Slider or Steadicam.
Workflow: Shoot 6:1, offload RedMags onset onto a MSI G780R Laptop via esata (thanx phil ;-) and use SyncBack Pro in watchmode to copy
Data onto mirrored HDs. Back in the Shop I compute Magic Motion (if ever) in Redcine X, edit Realtime in Adobe Premiere, VFX, NeatVideo
Denoise, Fixel EdgeHancer and CC in After Effects, Audio is finished on ProTools and layed back in After Effects and usually create all Deliverables
in Adobe Media Encoder or out of After Effects. All working like a Charm and The Footage is just Dope. I'm Still amazed everytime I watch
footage out of the 456.

Great to hear that Sascha! I can not expect it, to have my own Scarlet completely...
Which Steadycam is that on the picture?

Glad to read. I just imagine if someone who plans to buy a Scarlet drops into this Forum, he/she must be thinking - oh my goodness, this scarlet doesn't spit out one frame without issues ;-)
But it works. And i suppose we are no minority ;-)

No, you are not.

I've been using my Scarlet since January... inside, outside, in the snow, etc. I've never had one single issue!

My backfocus seems spot on, and black shading yields great results for me, I've never seen any anomalies. It's always difficult because people come to these forums and see people posting problems and get scared about the Scarlet. MOST ALL of the Scarlets out in the wild are probably operating just perfectly.

Yeah I think you'd be right about that Sascha. Thought this thread was a very good idea. Well done.

I hope mine will be working as flawlessly as yours, Sascha)

My Scarlet has absolutely zero issues as well. The entire system works great out of the box. I'm blown away by the quality.
Cheers,
Sam

The quality is truly outstanding, mine unfortunately had to go back but it inspires me to see the positive trouble free reports. Keep it up!

Great post man, nice to spread the positive vibe around here :) I've been shooting 1393 for a month now and have had no "issues" so to speak either! Although, I can MAKE it crash.....just try swapping an IS canon lens without powering down first - hangs for me every now and then. Also, if you scroll through menu's too fast on the touch, or make menu change in the sub-menus too quickly, like back and forth...it can hang. But these aren't issues if you ask me, just learning to use the cam in a certain manner and it works without a hitch. The images I'm getting are so much more than I was expecting....and the workflow is a dream (even on a budget!). Thanks again for sharing your experiences :)

The problem is that people usually post only when something is not right looking for answers. The vast majority who's cameras are working fine (including you and yours truly) are just busy working. It's the nature of the beast. Same with news...

Kudos for posting this and plus 1

Hi Sascha,

I've also been trying out Adobe Media Encoder and the whole package of Premiere and After Effects and I have to pinch myself, not quite believing how easy it is to work with 4K. I wanted to try it out before undertaking a more serious job with this workflow so shot my twin girls fifth birthday party with the Scarlet. I also put up a blue screen so kids could dance and kick about. I have done the entire job from start to end on a 17" MacBook Pro (2.4Ghz) with 8GB of RAM. Editing was sooo easy, then I used Adobe's dynamic link when converting the Blue screen clips onto After Effects composition and did all the keying on AE, including some funky backgrounds. This is probably where things were just a bit slower on the playback front (but again you can't install a Quadro 4000 on a laptop!). I then used Media Encoder, imported the project, chose the sequence with the cut film, chose the format and hit the 'play' key to encode to H.264. The whole film (almost 5 minutes), took just over an hour.

This is amazing news. The 64-bit architecture of the software and computer really makes a difference. The whole experience was quite liberating, not having to go down the ProRes route, nor the RR, although I would still like to get one at some point!

Mine has also been stellar. The camera works great, REDmote has been a terrific edition and works solidly from at least 10-15 feet away (haven't had a need to go farther). Touchscreen is flawless - works as well as my iPhone.

Overall, no issues whatsoever, except for the occasional "operator error." Working on that.

same here. istvan and ivanka are working fine - no issues. ivanka's problem is, that no 3k hdrx is possible at 25 fps, so hdrx is worthless. in pal europe. but her brother istvan is there for assist her :-)
hopefully somewhen red find a solution to enable 25 fps hdrx at 3k for scarlets, 50 fps at 3k (without hdrx) would be nice as well :-)
