Did anyone else notice that this was one of the latest trademark apps filed? On the 29th Feb 2008.

After that we have:

Red Head - looks like a tripod head on the way - 2 April 2008
Red Play - 4K Opto disc player - 2 April 2008

And My Personal fave:

"JANNARD" - 7 Nov 2007

Roll on NAB!

Jim

I thought that "Red Head" has meant a lighting fixture for some time...?

Ahh good memories from South Africa - very commonly-used terms there! My first film was shot with two redheads and a blonde... I was a theatre director at the time and didn't even know what wattage they were, just that my DP wanted them. Then I came to USC and nobody in my film class knew what the hell I was talking about.

So, what's REDCORE?

Yeah I have three lovely redheads in my bedroom right now...

EPIC - your guess is as good as mine - Feb 08
REDCAST - looks like streaming web vieo - Feb 08
RED BRICK - ??? - Nov 07
RED GRIP - ??? - Nov 07

Wow Im loving it. Cant wait for Monday in Vegas!!!!

I have a strong feeling Jim and Jarred are laughing very loud somewhere right now, this just reeks of one of their smoke-and-mirrors games.

Jim said "1st off... no matter what you think Scarlet might be, you WILL be surprised".

It seems like just about everyone thinks it is some sort of "red light" type camera.

That is what I am hoping for also, but...

If I were him, I'd register bogus stuff just knowing we'd dig it up.

"RedBalls" (like Blue Balls but WAY cheaper)

red should release a custom card like kona for red that would speed up rendering and allow monitoring out of 4k to their new display devices :)

Either that, or they might be just reserving TM's for future upgrades, preventing some as****** blackmailing them later (as it did happened to me with my domain). 3K will also make sense as the max. number, as 4K Scarlet would be way close to compete with 4K RED ONE...

REDRAY - 4k discs ala 'Blueray' me thinks - Feb 08
Okay, if there's truth to this, then that is the single most awesome thing I've ever yet seen the Red team do. Yes the Red One is wonderful, but if Jim's going to take on the blockheaded DRM-infested overpriced license-fee-nightmare blu-ray cartel... that would truly be a rebellion. And if he wants to punk Sony, this'd be the way to do it. The Red One may have stuck a stick in Sony's eye, but this would be a dagger through the heart. Sony's bet the company on blu-ray.

I don't know how big Red's appetite is; we know they've talked about a 4K projector and a 4K display. But a mass-market end-user 4K delivery system? That's ... well, we'll see, but that's... revolutionary.
