Quite pleased with a 30second light grade with Redcine X.
2K 60fps on Canon 50mm f1.8(effective angle of view 162mm) using natural/ available light
R3D lightly graded in Redcine X exported as Pro Res and then converted using h.264 for vimeo on Macbook Pro

Is it me or does the grade look sharper!?

The graded version looks more yellowish than the uploaded version on Vimeo who looks more reddish.

Hi Benoît,

Could the variation in tone be a result of the applied compression: R3d to Pro Res, Pro Res to H.264? I took the snapshot after applying the grade.
Also, I did the grade on a non-calibrated Macbook Pro. I am hoping to use Resolve for grading soon.

It's hard for me to say that, because I don't use Pro Res as I work on PC workstations and I don't need to transcode to Pro Res.

Maybe it's the jpg displayed on a web navigator without a color profile that messes up colours.

I kinda liked the ungraded version better;P Sure it looks a bit washed out and and skintone is yellowish and a bit pale, but on the graded version you have lost all details. The eye just look like black hole and it actually looks like she got hit in the face and got a black eye, because the makeup is all brown and skintones look very orange. Could be colorprofile on the monitor or more likeley the jpeg compression thats messing with the blacklevel and crushing all the blacks.

(was talking about the jpeg image and not the video)

In another thread related to importing the grade from RCX to Premier, they mentioned that the values from Alchemy don't get saved/ transferred. I am not sure if that's true for debayer for Pro Res export. I am so glad I have registered for Reducation in Feb. I will have real questions and concerns around the workflow. I just downloaded Davinci Lite 8.2. Let's see if I can figure it out.

I do hope the very soft image is not what to expect from my Scarlet. Is something wrong or am I misinterpreting the images posted? This looks, without exaggeration, inferior to my point and shoot camera, not what has been billed on this and other boards as one of the finest motion picture cameras in history (not my description). I must be not understanding the post?
