Will we be able to use Scarlet 2/3" fixed with the Element Technica "Neutron", or will the fixed lens be too wide for that purpose?

I'm asking because it seems to me that the slightly deeper depth of field of the
2/3" sensor coupled with the built in electronic lens control of Scarlet will make it ideal for stereo work.

I'm going to visit Element Technica at their Los Angeles location sometime in the next few days, and would love to know the limitations as for which models to look at.

Thanks!

the fixed will probably do better with beamsplitters, while the 2/3" interchangeable will probably do well in a side by side, even though the mini-primes aren't electronic (not that you can't shoot the fixed in parallel as well). And you're right about the DOF. Element Technica is very much up to speed on the new RED's, I'm sure they can advise you properly.

Actually, I asked them, but since the Scarlets they have do not include the fixed lens, they weren't sure whether or not it will work with "Neutron". It will also be important to figure out the situation in case we want to throw a wide-angle lens adapter or a x2 tele adapter.

I hope someone at RED can comment...

P.S.
The choice between beam-splitter and side-by-side rigs has little to do with the choice of cameras. it really is all about how close you need to get to the subject. If you need to get close to the actors or other elements you're shooting, then you need a beam-splitter. otherwise, a side-by-side rig would work fine (and will be much cheaper...). The size of the cameras only plays a part in determining how close is too close for a side-by-side rig. The closer together you can get the cameras, the closer you can get to the subject (actors) before you need to switch to a beam-splitter.

yeah, that's what i meant, the scarlet interchangeable with miniPrimes will go very close together side by side.

After visiting at Element Technica, the conclusion seems to be that the Neutron rig is the most suitable one to use with the Scarlet 2/3".

In fact, I was extremely impressed with the size and weight of that combo.
A real game changer for 3D production (assuming you want to enjoy the advantages of Scarlet 2/3" over the SI2K).

The Scarlets they have there, however, are of a slightly different size and shape, compared to the current scarlet design (as seen on the little Vimeo clip), and do not have the fixed lens on them, so I'm still just a bit worried about the compatibility of the fixed lens, especially in case I need to use a wide angle lens adapter or a x2 tele adapter on top of it. I hope some official answers will be offered soon.

Thanks again!
