Just got my Scarlet! It looks a lot my Epic Unboxing photos - I'll being doing some side by side testing this week! I'm very curious to see if there is a difference between 4k 24fps on one to the other I'm also very curious to see how the high speed and higher iso's compare under the same situations (lighting), with the same glass, with the same subject

UPDATE:

First test was awesome Low light capability and look of the image at 4k 1/8 is awesome - it looks just like the Epic My fears that it would perform like an MX were unfounded - this camera is amazing

Cons: My RedMote equally does not work on either my Epic or my Scarlet I've attached a screenshot

Shot on RPP 100mm at 1.8 in park at night I'll have video up shortly!

I am waiting for the DSMC handle for it.

I have Battery Belt with adaptor so I can use my bricks, 8 volts, 4 128 cards, 2 1.8 stations, 1 5" touch screen, 1 7" from the Red One, 1 EVF, DSMC handle and 1 Redmote...

Between those existing accessories that I have to support my Epic I am hoping it's enough to keep the Scarlet moving as a B cam with it.

If I want to rent it out I'd need to invest in another 5" touch screen at the very least (and probably more media).

Right now my priority is finding that affordable B-cam bc the MX doesn't really hang with the Epic like I had hoped and most of my shoots require 2 cams

This would be very cool to see.

For the Scarlet, if you shoot at the same fps/resolution/redcode the image looks the same as if you'd shot on Epic [...]. That is the appeal of the Scarlet, for within the hardware fps/resolution/redcode constraints the camera may say Scarlet, but the image is 100% Epic.

You should have the exact same image shooting 4K - 24FPS. :-)

Is there a noticeable difference between the MX and Epic when shooting 4K?

Thanks everyone - I hope it's the same at 4k! - It'll be fun to test

Daniel - the cameras are day and night - they don't necessarily mix with ease - the latitude and color between the MX and Epic are very different. The DP, AC, and myself, on my first set with the Epic all struggled in the prep to get these cameras close to each other.

Thanks Marc. However, I'm now concerned as I was going to have a two camera shoot including Scarlet and MX in January. Were you able to match them in the end?

We had to prioritize the Epic (A Cam) more then I normally would and did my best to leave the MX (B Cam) as quick detail shots and coverage. We spent a lot of time in post getting them close. One spot we took to Company 3 to grade. But when I see the spots I can still see the slight difference between the two cameras.

Epic and I am hoping Scarlet - have such great latitude and awesome color space - to Red's credit they are a great improvement over the MX (and I remember thinking nothing gets better then the MX!).

So you can definitely make it work, it's just not the most pleasant process and less then ideal to deal with...but it can be done

I have a screenshot of the two monitors coming from each camera on the same scene (after we spent a day trying to get the looks close) and even in a quick screen shot you can see the difference (these monitors are not calibrated and this is by no means perfect example)

This link might not work bc it's facebook: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...82513963815.2102558.1268430016&type=3&theater

Screenshot from test - it's pretty amazing

It def looks and feels a lot more like Epic then MX and that's awesome!

I wish the RedMote would work but right now I think it's a faulty RedMote because it doesn't work well on the Epic or Scarlet!

I wish I could get them to replace the RedMote instead of sending in the camera a second time with the RedMote :(

In the mean time...take a look!
