  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet #00077 'Cyndi' Test footage

love it. Downloading the R3D now.

Thanks everyone... glad you liked the test shot!
Unfortunately my Scarlet will be out of commission until next week - looks like the AC power adapter suddenly quit working so I now have no way to power the camera. But RED is sending my out a new one next week which is great. Until then, it will make a very nice paper weight :D

Here is my latest test shot which will be used for a concept trailer I'm throwing together for my first project with the Scarlet. I graded in Redcine-X but hope the Vimeo file does not appear too dark on other peoples machines since I've been experiencing gamma issues exporting from both Redcine-X and Final Cut Pro - I'll have to work that out next. Aside from that I am really enjoying the whole Redcine-X experience - the flexibility of the R3D files is just great!

Got lucky the other night and we had our first patch of fog since the arrival of my Scarlet. Unfortunately I still have no battery power to take it out and about but I managed to plug it into the side of the house and film the only visible street lamp a few houses away. The fog was fairly thick and the lamp quite far away so it served as the perfect low light test. This shot was at 4K, 2000 iso, with 1/24 shutter. Aside from the noise in the mids I'd say the Scarlet did a fantastic job! Also, because the lamp was far away the Vimeo file was cropped to about a 3K size in post, amplifying the affect of the noise. In the prores file you can even see an outline of the chimney on the rooftop. The light in this situation was extremely low (a worst case scenario) yet the camera still managed to generate usable footage so I am very impressed with what the Scarlet can do.
