I've used my Scarlet setup and run audio through my A-box on a few occasions and it's worked out OK, but still have some technical questions. I'm running an MKE - 416 which is Phantom

The Pre-Amp starts at +30db. Is this typical of all recording devices. Sometimes I have to run it up to +50db to get the levels right and I'll hear white noise and of course the RED's fan underneath.

What exactly is going on here? Is the Phantom power losing strength coming through the A-Box?

I'm not an audio technician, but it's sounds cleaner when I record via my Zoom H4N with the same mic.

You run phantom power through yours as well?

No phantom power on the front ports of the RED.

do you have it on both chanels , or just on one?
my A-box chanel one works fine, chanel two having the same problem

Phantom power does work from the 1/8" jacks on the front of the Epic, with or with out an Abox

I use a Schopes CMIT-5U and get acceptable results, not as clean as a Nagra, Sound Devices or Zaxcom, but usable for most aplications where it is run and gun with out a sound mixer
