Dear All,
I want to save the keyframe setting in Color for a particularly shot and reuse this setting for another shot in another project. Can I do so?
Now I use saving color profile in Setup tab to save the setting of each specific color grading setting to reuse in another project. It works well for Primary In, Secondary In and etc, but not keyframes. Any help, please?
Thanks in advance.
King

thank you Gunleik and Ido. Ido, let me try the way you suggested.
Thanks.

Keyframes are not transferable from shot to shot. Trust me, I've tried pretty much every possible way.

Yes, I think so, and I have tried many possible ways also. Someone told me to save each individual room, but it doesn't work either. Quite upset.
Thanks a lot.

While it's annoying in certain circumstances, I think it makes sense from a software design/workflow perspective.

In 95% of post-production situations, copying keyframes is a non-issue. There aren't a lot of times when you're going to need the functionality if, say, you're grading a final product. Given the complexity involved in copying keyframes to different clips, it's probably not a major concern. I'm guessing they're timecode based in Color, which means that in order to copy them, you'd have to convert them to relative timecode (AKA 'Keyframe #1 is X frames from the beginning, Keyframe #2 is Y frames after that') and then store that data.

Given how absolutely atrocious keyframe support in Color is currently, the last thing I want them doing is trying to convert my keyframes to something else. That's not to say I don't sometimes wish I had the ability to copy (When I'm one-lighting dailies, for example, though I mostly do that in RC-X now) but right now keyframes are such a hack-job it's better to leave them be.

I had a project that was graded and then I had to process some shots.
Those new shots had to be in a new video track, over the originals. In Color I did a reconform and the just grab the grade to the new clip, except the ones with keyframes.
what I did: closed the project, look for the project file in desktop, then use the show content command, there's a shots folder and in there one folder per shot. you have to look for the grade you want, copy paste all files in the corresponding folder in the new shot. you have to rename the files after the new shot number. then open the project and there's the whole grade copied, including keyframes and animated roto shapes.
I hope this works for you

That was my thought - interested to hear that it works.

What a crummy workaround, though.

EDIT: crummy that you have to do it, thinking of it is cool.

Hmm, I just tried this, and it didn't work for me - were there any other steps involved?

This does work, for custom vignettes. It does however behave oddly. If you have a keyframed vignette or roto mask and you save that grade, you can reapply that grade to another shot in another project. However, the keyframes do not immediately appear. You have to set a new keyframe where no other ones originally were and suddenly you see all the keyframes. If your shot duration is shorter, you will have keyframes outside the handles of the new shot that you can not delete. You can edit any previously set key frame or delete them so long as they are with in the limits of the new shot.

I don't know for sure that this works the same (with the odd bug of them being hidden) with other parameters, but it might very well be the same.

Hi, Brandon, just want to confirm that you are talking about Da Vinci. Am I correct?
Thanks.

No, I am discussing how you can Save a grade and keyframes and then reapply it to another shot with key frames (well sort of) in Color.
