Hi Everyone,

Has a woman ever posted on this forum?
Are there any women who've ordered a Scarlet?

Is it weird that RED is a 'guy thing'?
Any thoughts on why that is or what it implies?

Jack

Haha, I don't think it's just with RED. I've actually only recently started seeing women that are becoming interested with Cinematography/Directing etc. I'm sure we'll see more and more women DP's in the next few years.

LOL. you guys are killing me here. I only seen one post in the past like a long time ago.

There was one recently, but she got kicked off.

haha... I was thinking about this the other day. The "forum" is aptly named as it's pretty much a modern day reincarnation of the greco/roman forums that served as a central meeting place for debate, social gathering, commerce, and many other things. Most of the things that went on there were designed for and by men. People got killed there. It wasn't necessarily a safe, secure, comfortable place. My experience has been that women don't generally prefer to involve in those kinds of things, while men generally crave dangerous situations and conflict. Those things are at the heart of RED's philosophy, and naturally attract men moreso than women. The existing potential customer/consumer base for RED's products has generally tended towards the masculine anyway, for lots of reasons that I don't fully understand.

I've seen a few ladies around here, and love it when I do. I'd certainly love to see more women get involved on here and have a voice, because there are more and more out there stepping into the world of storytelling, technology, and art every day. That being said, I think there are a lot of reasons why it's not as attractive to most women to participate around here, and it could be helpful for us to think about how we could be more welcoming to those type of people. I'd like to hear what some of these guy's wives have to say... hehe. We should make a place just for them, perhaps :) Course having some mother figures around might conflict with the sense of freedom some guys get of a guys night out (in) on reduser ;) In any case, I'd love to welcome the new and unique perspectives that each individual brings to this forum, and in this case - that of the female. So come on in ladies, the waters fine, but don't drink it ;)

I know a women who uses a male name in order to keep the guys from paying un-wanted attention to her. =)

There are women on the forum, we just like to watch you guys make fools of yourselves.

... like when we title a thread asking why there are no women "Sausage Fest" ?

*scratches meatballs*

Seriously, as the proud father of two twenty-something independent strong-willed young women, who tolerate my frequent boyish regressions only because they know I'm doing it just to annoy them, why put up with the mess from strangers?

I work with a great bunch of guys and rarely have any problems on set. Plus I have a good sense of humor and when someone posts "sausage fest" I can't help laughing and adding my own sarcastic comments.

Definitely an abundance of weiner...lol

Kind of a weird thing to ask

I didn't post here thinking it was a cool place to pick up ladies, I post here to learn...

So sex is kind of a pointless factor (the gender kind)... I'm sure female DoPs, Camera owners etc. are pretty much as good as their male counterparts...so don't see why it matters what gender or how many of each gender is on here...

Sausage fest implies that it matters...

might I suggest, www.match.com if you are interested in the online societies for such activities?
