  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sadly i just noticed this on the web....

Humm...

Timur posted a link to a blog posting with that video a few weeks back, and someone mentioned it in that thread. Let me see if I can find the thread . . .

Weird. I thought it was this thread: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?100184-An-examination-of-The-Fujinon-Cabrio-19-90-T2-9 But it isn't mentioned there. Nor is it mentioned in the other thread I know of about that same Cabrio lens. I know I saw it mentioned somewhere . . . and I forget it Timur responded about it or not.

Soooo basically this post of mine is almost useless. Hooray!

I don't know that I'd call a debayering issue an "old problem". It's not like there's been a magical fix to ensure that there's no debayering issues ever like the one pointed out in the video.

PS. Some said its a transfer issue but the first poster said it appeared in AE for him only with full res. so maybe you are right... But maybe this is more complex?

Usually, re-transferring from the orignal mags fixes the issue. Usually. Unless the issue was with writing the data to the original mag in the first place. But it much more typically happens from a bad transfer.

Of course, if you overwrite your mags, or rented them and now they've been returned, you probably don't have that many options.

You're not losing it, I had mentioned it but removed my post because I didn't want to sound like a dink for pointing it out. I realized I should have PM'd him. Once he acknowledged, I took my post down though.

I've had to have 3 different Scarlets RMA'd because of what might be the same issue. All were bad boards.

Ugh... 3? Wow. I'm not an every day shooter but so far i havent had ANY real issues whatsoever and just hope this doesn't come up some day when it's too late (aka warranty runs out)

Did you always notice this right away?

Maybe they were up against a tight deadline or mean budget and hoped that the broadcast station would get the blame.

We were shooting HDRX.

Its in the R3D, ( but could have been a offload glitch, we had no $ for Tom Wong and his amazing offloading and backup tools). First time it happened. That shot didn't make the final cut. That cut is a right before final output cut. The director AFAIK replaced the shot.

But yea, it happened.

Also, 99% of people dont notice it. I would have taken out that frame, and grabbed the Xtrack frame, and spliced them together after an ISO boost, and reinserted it.

I'm also not a daily shooter but noticed the last 2 right away. The first took a few months to show itself. I tested by recording with the lens cap on for 10 minutes at 1200 ISO then playing back in a dark room. You have to train your eye to catch those wonky frames. I've gotten pretty good at it.

I saw this today after shooting in the heat.
I get this at odd times.
However after a reboot, I dont see it anymore on the files.
I checked both SSD and files copied to local drive.
Both are fine.
I suspect its either the SSD or the reader that causes this.

I've had this happen to me once too. But It happened during a back up transfer. the original footage was fine.

Thank you Ryan for the feedback!

I believe I'd catch glitches like these... I usually notice single frame jumps, left over black frames and what not.
Gotten used to it over the years, reviewing cuts of hundreds of short films of my students... and a lot of these first timers... well... hehehe!

But I'll be even more alert now and will try the 10 min lens cap idea just to make sure!
