In the market for a speedy and reliable tripod that can support a fair amount of weight.
i have looked at a bunch of options including OConnor, Cartoni (the Smartstop) and Vinten.
I already have the 75mm version and like it, but really need to go to 100/150mm bowl.

I like the looks of both the 5586 and the 5590. I know the 5590 can support a lot more weight (though I don't need it, I am in the 35 pound (15 Kg) range) so my thinking would be just that it is even sturdier as a choice. However, maybe that is overkill.

Anyone have experiene with BOTH of these tripods ?

Other suggestions are welcome, but bear in mind that the solution needs to have a speedy locking solution.

Both are super sturdy. If you don't need the huge max load capacity of the 5590, the 5586 will be fine.

Thanks Eric, I have just found out that Sachtler has discontinued sale of the 5586.
Replacing it perhaps with a new model for NAB ?
