I recently got an FSB8 head and I like it a lot, but it has the most ridiculous tie-down ever.

I tried my friends FSB10 to see if it would fit but it's just off...does anyone know of any alternate options for a simpler/flatter tie down?

As someone eyeing the FSB 8, I'm curious what you don't like about the tie-down?

It's like a hockey stick. It's long and obnoxious and if you're planning on using something like a dana dolly it will definitely get in the way.

A simple hand knob is all I'd like.

The head itself is good.

I got my Flow Tech 75's which work great for this head, but...you can't go all the way to the bottom because the tie down gets in the way.

Take a look at the Manfrotto 319SH Short Tie Down

I don't know why they make the tie downs so long sometimes. You may want to take a look at the "Manfrotto 319SH Short Hi Hat Locking Handle", which I believe, but I'm not 100% certain, will work.

I hope this helps,

Sachtler's tie down has a M10 thread, Manfrotto should be 3/8".

Found this two from another thread, seems will work with the FSB-8, Flowtech 75 combo:

https://udengo.com/half-balls/122-half-ball-knob-thread-m10-5902273290162.html

I had a short tie down to use with my FSB-6 on a Gitzo Systematic tripod with 75mm bowl, I tried it on the Sachtler 75 Speedlock CF legs, however the tie down is too short, making it very difficult to grip between the legs. Now I also got the Flowtech 75, I would buy a short tie down that's not too short, otherwise it's not really useable.

Can’t you just replace the M10 with 3/8”? When you unscrew the M10, it reveals an odd screw with 3/8” on the head side and M10 on the tie down side. Any solution for this?

Hi Brandon,

I have the older FSB10, and it does have an M10 screw. If yours does as well, head over to KesslerKrane. They've got an M10 knob that when paired with a washer works well for super low setups. Hope this helps.

Kessler's should be the cheapest solution, not sure how it works on 75mm bowl tripod as the knob is very short. It may be easier to grab through 100mm bowl tripod legs.

Oh damn, this thread came back lol.

I don't think the M10 works. I tried using my buddies FSB10 tie down on my FSB8 and it was a fraction too big.
