Looks like an older head, but will it support a kitted out Red?

I tried searching, but can't seem to find the info on what it will support. Plus there seems to be a new/ompletely different version to the used ones I am seeing.

Thx (from the newb),

Scott

I had a 7+ 7, I was very happy with it. I sold it and bought an O'conner 2060 because that's what all everyone asked for when my kit went out.

I will say the 7+7 and case weighed around 30lbs vs. the 2060 coming in over 50 lbs. If I were buying for personal use today I would get a 7+7 that's in excellent condition. Costs almost a third and I feel does almost a good a job. Plus the airplane travel factor

So if it is good condition and you don't have a fully kitted out Red, not a bad "starter" head...

I will be running the Birger/Canon setup (at least initially) so berpahs the weight will not be as much of an issue.

As usual, thanks for the great, real world experience answers.

We used 2 7+7 heads on a feature in China. The Reds where fully loaded using Panavision Primo lenses. Worked well, though most operators on the shoot wanted the 2575.

Sounds good. Right now I need something within budget that will hold the camera. If I do any rental, I can always get O'Connor here from another rental shop if that is a make/break part of the deal. Or just commit to the purchase if there is rental inome to justify it.

Thx,

Scott

I guess that you are looking for a Sachtler Studio II head, that´s the full name. It´s ok in my opinion too... still a workhorse here in Argentina. Of course there are newer and bigger heads, but it´s fine!
