Like many people I am planning on using the Ruby to take up the 14mm to 24mm wide end of the RPP collection. I have shot with the Ruby a few times now and think it is a great must have lens. I have only used our RPPs once and am pretty impressed with them so far.

I currently have the prototype and it is working on a feature we are doing here in Hollywood. The camera dept loves the lens and is working it almost everyday. The show also has a set of S4's and Optimo zoom.

As the lens is not working this weekend, tomorrow I will shoot a few test to see how well the Ruby blends with the RPP's. I will post results here.

Yes, but will it blend?! :emote_22_yikes:

I am shamelessly posting just to subscribe to this thread. Thanks for the heads up about the test, I am VERY exited to check it out once you post it up. I look forward to getting my dirty paws on a new one with the even longer focus throw!

Matthew wastes no time in making sure he checks out the Ruby. How sweet would it be to have current RPPs + Ruby + Tokina... talk about wide capabilities. I am interested in seeing if I can rent all of them together.

The Ruby even looks like an RPP :) Too "bad" the barrel size isn't the same as the longer and heavier 25mm and 35mm, but I guess it is far better to have a lighter lens for steady than a few second faster swaps.

Here is the first pic. I would say it blends well considering one is a prime.

The workflow:
Shot 4KHD both lens at 5.6 on infinity shutter 1/400th no ND.
Dropped R3D's into AE 32bit project made a curve and copied it to second clip and made a mask with 80 pixel feather. Saved frame as 22mb PS file, brought into PS and exported JPEG scaled down 50%.

Click below to see the same image with the mask subtracted to flip sides.

That's a well illustrated and compelling way of showing the two lenses playing together! Nicely done.
