About to invest in a new rig, just curious if there is a difference between rubber grips or leather grips Or is it just a preference?
If you have tried both which do you prefer and why?

Depends on the leather and depends on the rubber. For example, on my Red One I owned the original Red handle accessories with the hard rubber diamond texture (looked like a hand grenade), and they were slick and very difficult to hold.

By contrast, the rubber on the DSMC handles are soft and extremely easy to hold, almost sticky. So I would say pick a specific brand, like Wooden Camera, and ask people to compare the leather and rubber offerings from that specific brand.

Having experienced blackened hands from the rubber bleeding, I now avoid most rubber handles.
Especially true in adverse environments.

Wood is more useful for the form fitting attributes, but I prefer the leather for the tactile feedback.
As Julio pointed out. shop around.

I usually wear gloves when I operate handheld so I prefer rubber, because it holds to my gloves better. But as his thread shows, everyone has different opinions. Your best bet would be to try for yourself!
