  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ruairi's Akira cancelled?

Ninja Scroll is overrated. Berserk is better.

LoL I'm just bein' an asshead.

But yeah, if you spend money on any "gateway" anime, I suggest Evangelion-- the entire IP. OMV's and all.

Ninja Scroll was great! Ghost in the Shell is more of Akiras genre.

Just read the wiki article and the line saying, "In June, 2009, it was reported that Ruairi Robinson had left the project and the film was 'Dead as a doornail'." made me wonder what went so wrong that the director decided to walk out.

creative differences... ha!
big companies want to make big $$$, good directors want to make a good film.
I think that some companies far to often turn these cartoon turned live action movies into something far from what they were simply to cash in.
Look what Fox did to Dragonball (destroyed one the greatest anime series of all time)
The Wachowski brothers on the other hand, had the right idea with their approach to speed racer- IMO.

Turning Akira into a live action film (in Hollywood) would require some serious remodeling... first off it would need to be english (american) dialogue and mostly american actors. It would need to take place in the US and thus a reason why a japanese kid named Akira is, well... "stored' there would need to be invented. Also the last 30 minutes of the film are extremely difficult to imagine in a real live setting.

But then again I like to overcomplicate things.

You guys that don't like it, have you seen the English version or the Japanese version (with subtitles).

The Japanese version is much better. The English version is kind of confusing.

Has anyone talked to Ruairi? Sheesh. I'm a little worried. Might have to track him down and see if he needs someone to drink some whiskey with.

Speaking of missing in action, where have you been, Rado??

Oh, only now I see this... sorry.

Well, quite a few things on my mind now. :willy_nilly:

But I'll be around from time to time.

Especially when I get my Scarlet.

Cheers. :driving:
