RT motion zoom rocker - bricked mk3.1

Just a heads up for those of you who got the new rtmotion zoom rocker...

I spent awhile today getting the thing working, updating firmware, and getting correct setting going on the mk3.1 controller. I finally got the thing working properly and I have to say it's truely badass. Then all of a sudden right after I got it working my mk3.1 controller got bricked. It won't boot no matter what I do.

Now I am not sure that any of you will have this problem yourself, but wanted to give a heads up that it might be a possibilty. If you have an important shoot around the corner (like I do) then you might want to hold off on messing with it.

still waiting to hear back from RT tech support and will update this thread when we come to a conclusion on what caused the controller to go nighty night.

was it powered off a p-tap? If so, I hope the polarity was correct.

Nope powered off Canon batteries.

I have had my RT zoom rocker for about one month - no problems at all. I have not updated to the new firmware as RT have not released the Apple OS firmware only for PC.

As there is no wire connection between the Zoom rocker and the handset it cannot be polarity or power issue. Most probably something with the firmware. Have you tried re-installing the firmware on the controller?

Unfortunately when I say bricked I mean the thing wont power on no matter what I do. Tried plugging it into my computer with and without battery, tried holding set and power button and inserting battery like they recommend if this kind of thing happens. Tried 10 different canon batteries. Nada...

Hi Randall,

The mk3.1 controller has been shipped back to RTmotion HQ and is getting diagnosed now. I will be sure to update this thread when they figure out what happened.

I have to say the entire tech support experience has been absolutely fantastic. I called teredek directly and with in a day that had a loner unit shipped to me while mine is getting repaired. It's seems the acquisition of the company comes with the benefit of them having a HQ in California, as the replacement arrived much faster then had it shipped from UK. Their tech support has always been top notch and look like being apart of teradek is strengthening what was already great.

Really I can't say enough how awesome and solid the RT motion gear had been in general. I used it for 25days straight on a recent job and had zero isssues. I am sure this is just a firmware issue and I realized I was trying to get the zoomrocker working on the incorrect firmware so perhaps that had something to do with it.

Will update when I hear back on the issue.

I have the same problem currently my controller is bricked. Don't know what to do.
