We tried Redrushes for the first time as a way to batch process a large amount of footage. Maybe someone can see where I went wrong..

I opened one of the shots needing color correction in Red Alert. It was one of multiple clips of the same interview.

I color corrected the image as needed and saved the profile as a preset in Red Alert.

I then imported all the interview clips into Redrushes. I opened the RSX file that was created in the folder of the R3D clip and set it to that in Look Source. Set the gamma and color space to Look Source and hit render.

It took what seemed to be a normal amount of time, but he progress bar never really moved much past say 5%. When the first clip said it was done, the bar still had not moved. I was unable to open the clip in Quicktime and the file size was only 480MB. I processed other clips in Redrushes earlier that day with no RSX file with no problem.

My second attempt, the first clip rendered out fine, but the second one did not have the color correction. Can you apply one RSX file to multiple clips?

So have I done something wrong? I've resorted to processing in Red Alert, but I really wish I cold batch them overnight.

Your look source should be your RSX you created in REDALERT!

After this you have one of two options, you can apply a general color correction to all of your rushes though RR and that would be you selecting, Selected RSX

If you want each clip to have its own RSX then your RSK should be Clip RSX

I hope this helps.

Someone should "sticky" this post.

Took me 4 days (in 8 hour terms) to output shots from a music video at 1/2 debayer quality with a onelight (first project output on red) using REDAlert! Looks great but man, all I did was watch movies and click buttons. The half size looked amazing when I edited in 720p.

I've been trying to find this post for 4 days. I figured Red-Rushes were for just that... Rushes. If you are confused by REDCine a bit and like REDAlert! I recommend this process.

I'm now on another project, outputting clips from 3k 2:1 to 3k 2:1 Apple ProRes with a little color from REDAlert! It is taking a while but better than sitting by the comp all weekend. The clips work great for me this way because I'm editing a commercial in After Effects and FCP in 720p. The large clips allow some cool digital zooms.

Maybe I could just be in the dark about how much better REDCine really is... Anyone?
